Tall ladies - need help

Tall ladies - I need some help... I am on a desperate jeans hunt and I keep coming up empty handed.  I went to Banana Republic at lunch and I really liked these jeans but they were *just* the right length with boots with heels.  I am really afraid that they will shrink in the wash.  The store that I went to didn't have Long's (35' inseam) just ( Read more... )

Ack - I have such a problem with the length of jeans! Longs are usually too long, and Regulars are usually too short.

I don't have any BR jeans. Old Navy regular length jeans seem to be the right length for me. Also, I just bought a pair of long length Levi's off ebay that are pretty good (although maybe a tiny bit too long).

(BTW, how tall are you?)

Ditto the Long Levi's. They don't shrink.

Thanks! Maybe I will have to try the long length Levi's. ON jeans are definitely too short for me - I even have one pair on long's from them and can't wear them with boots with higher heels. Thanks for the e-bay tip - that's a good one. I am only 5'8 but I have freakishly long legs and a non-existent torso. :(

I have to have 34-36" inseams myself. I can only buy one of three brands: Gap Longs (or extra longs, available only online); Abercrombie, and Sevens (only for really special occasions!)

Good luck!

Holy crap - you must have such a hard time finding pants. How tall are you? I like Gap jeans, maybe I will try those out. I don't think I have ever tried on Abercrombie jeans, thanks for the tip. I would love to get a pair of Sevens but would definitely need to hide them from the huzbin. Men just do not understand what an awesome pair of jeans is to a girl's confidence...

2 suggestions from a semi-tall gal:

First, whenever I'm worried about shrinkage from jeans (or other pants) I wash them, then air-dry them until they are just barely dry, then I throw them in the dryer for the last bit so they are softer (I hate the feeling of clothes that are line/air dried). I've never had a problem with any shrinkage that way.

Second, I'm pretty sure the Lucky jeans have a 'long' length that is 33", and in many of their jeans, they have an Xrta-long length of 36". I've been loving Lucky lately. :)

Good tips on the shrinkage (or non-shrinkage hopefully). I know what you mean about how icky and stiff things feel when they air dry - I hate that, especially jeans. I have tried Lucky in the past but no success, I will have to try them again and see if they fit me any better.

Thanks Kathy for the BR guidance. I am going to go to BR again today with a friend to get her opinion (I feel like *such* a twit doing this but what are you gonna do?). I may just be a moron and buy the regulars in the store and order the long's online so that I can try them both on at home and decide. Maybe I should get the regular's for flatter shoes and the long's for heeled shoes. Good luck to me trying to explain that logic to Todd! Thanks again.

I am going to e-mail you about SF/Sonoma food recommendations because I now you will have some great ones. Should I use the e-mail address that you have been using or do you have a new g-mail one that I should use?
