I'm glad she kept the coin. I felt her holding onto it and keeping it close was a very good use of Chekhov's gun, so I was not surprised by the ending, as I was expecting something of the sort, but I did super enjoy the journey to getting there. Also, a story about money that regularly changes hands is a perfect connection to a prompt that includes fingerprints and leaving them all over everything you do. Great job with this - a compelling tale.
Oh wow! I'm used to your stories having people with magical gifts that are helpful and really able to save people, so it was a fun twist to see one where her power is a little darker than she would have liked (even if the guy who was turned into a coin did learn some useful lessons). I'm glad she got to go home in the end, and I hope Pat will end up with a better life because of her.
