I had mono during June, and was always home with my cat. She has been freaking out now that I've been going to work, but she seems to calm down after I give her lots of love at night. I'm hoping she'll get used to it.... eep!

I am sort of worried about him.. Hopefully he will be ok.. But I have been home for 8 out of the 11 months I have had him.. :o( I just dont want my baby kitty to be sad and lonely! I have been overly spoiling him with new toys and fancier food stuff..

He'll get over it after awhile. Being alone seems to be a tramatic experience for pets... My cat acted the same way when I went away for a week, but after about a month of my return, she knew that I wasn't going to leave her forever, that I'll always come back.
However, if this behaviour lasts more than a month, I'd check it out with the vet, it could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Ban_Gus mama's here...

I second the "he will get over it". They all do the *never leave me alone again* ritual by following you like a shadow. You're lucky that he didn't pluck his fur or let you a little gift in your bed yet (a bad gift) :^/

You should ask paws_and_effect for advices as they are the best felines psychologist ever and would be more than happy to answer any questions regarding Meatball :^) They're always more than happy to have new kitty friends too.

My Mommy said that older sister, Tambiss, would act like that for about a month when her and Daddy left on vacation. She was super affectionate and followed them everywhere. She started to act normal after a couple of weeks and was back into her usual routine within a month.

So I guess there is nothing to worry about.

I know I'm talking about a completely different animal here, but when I'm watching my parents dog, who is regularly around at least one of my parents constantly, she does the same thing to me. For the first few days. :) After that Afie (parents dog) seems to calm down quite a bit, acting like her normal self. I just need to give her a little time to get over her silly habit, then things are fine.
