Well, OBVIOUSLY.

When I was asked today about some English grammar and why it was like that, I said I didn't know. One of my students declared that it 'must be something Obama decided.' That's now my go-to explination when I'm asked things about English that I don't know. It was something Obama decided.

It's a little known function of the presidency to resolve English grammatical disputes.

Nothing to do with the post, but i am considering doing the JET programme in 2011 (missed the 2010 deadline ._.), and your journal has convinced me!

BTW, could you choose what age children you wanted to work with? I've heard loads of miserable stuff about surly high school students being a pain to work with, but young children sound hilarious and fun.

Hi!
Good luck! If you're unable to get into JET, there are also plenty of other ALT and eikaiwa companies to choose from. But JET is probably the best, and definitely worth it.

No, I couldn't choose the age group. You can request, I think, but it's like requesting your placement. You might get what you want, but you probably wont.

It also depends on your situation. Some of my friends work with high school students and love it, some of them have told me horror stories. At the same time, my kids can be just as surly and a pain to work with. It really just depends, but you learn to make the best out of any situation you're given.
