7-23 Garden Update: warm weather brings warm colours....
My, my, how a few splashes of orange and red brighten the palette of a garden. It's been ten days or so since the last garden post, flowers have gone, flowers have come.
In bloom in the tiny east bed are a red 'Champlain' rose, dusty-pink astilbe, orange day lilies, white shasta daisies, fiery asiatic lilies and candy-pink astilbe:

Yes! We've had FOUR summer days in a row - upper seventies to eighties - even in the nineties away from the lake. The flowers are beginning to do their thing in earnest.

ROTK EE at the AMC multiplex in Edina, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis).
Unfortunately -- I assume because the Transformers movie just opened -- the new EE of ROTK was shown in a theatre smaller than the one in which they showed FOTR two weeks ago. As I mentioned last week, I missed TTT because of the weather forecast, but a woman in line Tuesday night told me TTT had been in a big theatre, too. Only ROTK was put ( Read more... ) -

FOTR 'Directors Cut' (aka EE) - sublime
Dear friends,
I just wanted to say I drove the 165 miles to Minneapolis yesterday (that's 165 miles each way, folks) to see the new remastered print of the EE of FOTR. It was sublime. The quality of of the print, even the sound, was better than ever, truly exceptional. The audience in the big theatre was small (150?) but appreciative in a quiet ( Read more... ) -
Where art thou, Spring?
Snow was forecast, again, but we didn't believe it, having seen similar forecasts during the last several weeks, one even for a blizzard. Each time we got a piddling dusting of snow, or rain, but never the predicted snow fall.

Junk comments becoming a swelling tide....
SPAM comments.
Since the winter, maybe as early as the fall, I've been receiving comments in old posts that turn out to be junk. Mostly they're anonymous. But sometimes they're from registered LJ users. However, if you go to the user's profile page, you can see they don't really have a journal -- they have no posts and no personal info.
