During that miserable little event, the blithering idiot who claimed to be me used a number of words I can only assume to be some sort of slang. They meant nothing to me, but I wondered if, with the number of worlds and times represented here, they might mean something to any of you. I'd like to know if I've been slandered ( Read more... )

Dude, d20s control the universe! You need inititive to go first in combat, everyone knows that! And your stats are how good you are!

If you don't know that, you're a n00b!

What are gaming terms? And what is role playing?

It's a g-game in which people take on the roles of characters in the game. The terms are the rules of the game and the vocabulary by which the players define themselves.

I am not entirely sure what these "noobs" or whatever are. However, there are references to a lot of statistics, and I think "d6" and "d20," from last I read anything about Earth-kind, refer respectively to six-sided and twenty-sided dice. Of course, higher results are more positive. Does it mean 'special effects' in some kind of film term? I don't even know all of this.

I'm not sure what a film is. It's possible. I assume stats equals statistics.

Patchy fails at tabletop, etc. D: jacaranda_honey November 15 2009, 22:09:57 UTC
A film... a motion-picture. A series of images displayed in rapid succession to suggest that the images are moving. Typically they're captured with special devices to collect that many images fast enough... It's something mostly from Earth.

Maybe it's suggesting something about randomly-generated statistics?

Those are table top game terms!

Noob is like.. 1337-speak for a newbie. The rest deals with dice and stuff, since that's how attacks and whatever are determined.

what is 1337 speak? And what is a newbie? Someone who is new at something? Everyone has to be new at something at some time. Why is that a bad thing?
