my perennial garden

just a few very quick shots - the actual bed is about 10x12 and is in a back corner of our yard framed by a lilac bush, a couple of evergreens, and a couple of other bushes; there is a bench hidden behind the bed between it and the bushes, where the kids (and I) love to hide away.....

Yay low-maintenance gardens! I love cone flowers.

lol...glad to share what I know (which isn't much!), but it was mostly a "let's prepare the bed like crazy with amendments and compost, plant some stuff, and see what does well"

:D

the echinacea did well, obviously, as did the black-eyed susans
not so much on any of the yarrow I've tried, which annoys me because I love yarrow, and the leaves are great for healing cuts

the left side/corner of the bed is miscellaneous plants, which is driving me crazy - one mullein (which I found in the middle of our grass and moved there), one monarda, one joe pye weed, etc.

that part looks really messy - hence no photos of that part! :D

I've learned a lot at the Arboretum native plant sale each year (they have a listing of plants offered with sun/soil/water requirements, as well as individual plant information and care sheets), as well as Olbrich's plant sale

that said, I love playing in the dirt, or picking out plants, or yapping on and on about them, so I'd be happy to help in whatever way works best for you!
