Convention
I find it highly amusing that the Republican convention starts on Labor Day, which will require 100's, if not 1000's, of low wage American workers to work on what would likely otherwise be a vacation. Well, I guess minimum wage workers can use the extra work day anyway... and many of them will likely be illegal immigrants, so what the heck. -
Just a day
The longer I live here in Durham, the more I come to love this place I have come to call my home. This morning, as I sat at the computer with the window open, catching up on some work, I could hear and see all of the birds in the back yard. Beltaine is almost here again....
So, plans are already in the works for the 4th annual Beltaine (May Day) Party. The date this year will be May 3rd. I realize that many of you on my LJ are from Atlanta and unlikely to want to make the trip, but the invitation is open to all and in the past there have been small groups who have car-pooled up. Happy Ostara/ Spring Equinox!!
May this year be full of blessings and wonderful new things everyone. The days are getting longer and warmer. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing and the flowers are blooming. Take joy in the renewal of life. Spend a moment outdoors and take a deep breath of the beginnings of the new year. -
The Season
There is almost nothing like walking through a cloud of wind-blown cherry blossoms on a warm spring afternoon. Standing and taking in the scent of the delicate blossoms as they swirl and eddy around your head and feet is an almost mystical experience.
