Soooo, I just got a call from Edgepark and they want me to go in for a second interview next week....I'm not sure what that means considering I've never had to go on a second interview. So, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I feel rediculously dumb not knowing what all these things mean. Its with a completely different person, I don't ( Read more... )

A second interview is a good thing. It means you've gotten past their screening process in the ifrst interview and they are looking at you as a genuine candidate for employment.

I have no idea what Edgepark is, but I would say not to write it off because of a temp agency. Generally temp agency jobs are less disirable--the whole temp thing rarely yields a good employment option because temp agencies usually hire out the kind of jobs that people don't want, but take when they are desperate. It's okay in the short term if you need money, but definitely not in anyway a long term prospect.

Also, the way temp agencies work, they understand and accomodate job interviews. There will always be Temp work, but other job opportunities are hard to come by.

Err, I kind of misread your post. What I mean to say is if you tell the temp agency you have an interview, it won't stop them from finding you work, and you can still do the interview. Actually the one really good thing about temp work is that in most temp jobs you're working week to week, so if you do want to work while interviewing you can, and if you get the job you can easily quit the temp work without any hassle, it's expected actually.

But good luck with the second interview. They may ask more pointed or directed questions. A good rule for interviews in general is to be personable and professional, to give the impression that you are approachable and work well with others, but also that you will get the job done, and do it well. Of course, how a person achieves that, I don't know. I do well in interviews, but have trouble getting them.

Blake's advice is good. A second interview means that they think you might be the right person for them. Most employers will short list to a group of three or four for second interviews, sometimes more and sometimes less. So your task in the interview is to convince them that you can do the job, that you want the job, and that they would be making a good decision by hiring you ( ... )

Oh yes, and don't worry about the temp agency. If they call you for a job that you can't do because of the interview, just tell them then that you can't take that one because of the interview and that you will keep in touch with them. If you really want to curry favor with them, go one step further and call them now to let them know the time you can't work.
