I promise to TRY not to whine to much about the weather

It's weird how morning temps below zero start to feel normal after a while. -4 by the bank clock as I drove by this morning. There was a weather alert for freezing fog, and I admit I consider very cold-weather fog to be a new  phenomenon to me. I'm used to "the air is warmer than the snow" snow fog, and I've certainly seen frosty mornings, but this ( Read more... )

it's like smoke, but with frosting. Too strange.

It's 50! this morning. So friggin strange. 22 then 50, in a few day's time. And of course, mud.

Yeah, I'm ready for summer. Not even spring. Spring is muddy too! but summer... yeah.

We were having the 20s then up to 50 then to 70 then to 20 again over the course of 7 days. It's crazy. I'm crossing my fingers we are now in the clear. 10 day forecast is for 70s all week.

Yeah, how is your body supposed to react to that? And dog coats! how are they supposed to know how much hair to keep and how much to leave all over your house?

I know and they can't even have baths! It's really hard - I think my dogs are sick of each other right now - no one is playing and more squabbling than I've seen - we all have cabin fever except for the one nice day we've had per week. I've been chugging emergence daily. Our trial this weekend, Friday didn't even reach 30 degrees and it was a covered horse arena - no sides so the elements were present. Shasta wore two coats and I had about 5 layers on and we drove down in ice. Then Sunday it was about 75.

Last year, we were consistently in the 50s and 60s with a couple of freezes overnight until May. There was a smattering of warmer days. It was perfect.

It's absolutely beautiful out. The trees are getting whiter and whiter as the fog freezes, and it's going to be at least partly sunny, so everything is bright.

It's just dangerously cold. I know what you mean about feeling warm at temps I used to think were brutal!

Looks like you guys have ice fog, rather than freezing fog. Interesting…

Oh, COOL. I was just starting a post that said I thought maybe I didn't have enough words for fog. The "freezing fog" I'm used to happens when temps are much warmer, in the 20s or 30s.

Thanks for the link!

Is that what was falling today? I drove home around 10 am and it really looked like the air was sparkling. It was GORGEOUS.

I do not think I could survive one of your regular winters, let alone this one.
