This and that

At a show a couple weeks ago, the Wisdom Panel people had a booth and were offering their DNA panel for a show price of $30 if you swabbed your dog right there. So yeah, I couldn't resist, and got one for Riley. Got the results back yesterday and I can't say I'm shocked. We knew the border collie thing, and, well, papa was a sailor:

Slow pace is important to avoid burnout!

That it is! Though I need to keep enough forward momentum so that projects do get completed. Completion satisfaction helps with burnout too....

I can actually kind of see Schnauzer in the mix, especially in terms of body size, and maybe something around the eyes/brows. But yeah, lots of Border Collie.

You're right, there have to be at least a couple small breeds in to balance out the rotties :-)

I'm really tempted to do that DNA test on my dogs. Maybe someday I will.

I find it fun. I don't take it too seriously. It would be REALLY cool to see the profile from your dogs, I wonder if they're accurate enough to really reflect what the breeders have done? Do you have access to pedigree info for your dogs?

I have one for Matilda for four generations, back to her great, great grandparents. Her parents were both Labradoodles. On her mothers side she's Labradoodle all the way back. On her father's side, one grandfather was a Poodle.

For Joey the breeder didn't give me a pedigree. I've requested one several times, but have not received one.

I know the Australian Labradoodles have things other than Lab and Poodle. I'd love to see just what.
