Any takers?

I had a prenatal check-up yesterday (33 wks) and all is well. I've gained 35 pounds so far and I still have 7 weeks left! I quit working out way too early on this one and have eaten way too much chocolate! Some days I feel like I'm going to reinact a scene from Alien. Moira has taken to pushing straight out and I feel my skin stretch to its ( Read more... )

No Stretch Marks?! knitgrrl December 1 2005, 21:42:46 UTC
Give me a break! Okay, I'm going to do my best to be a supportive friend and say, "Only four? Good work!" My stomach looks like a spider web. I gained 35 or 40 pounds with Caleb, and they covered my entire lower abdomen. I gained 30 pounds with Ainsley, and they grew up over my belly-button.

My money is on the 9th for sentimental reasons. If I wasn't being sentimental, I would say the 12th. Can I have two?

"Stretch marks are like a road map on the long, interesting journey of a woman's (or man's) life." AMJ, 2005

My Rubenesque form has been home to an Interstate Highway System since puberty. God only knows how beautiful and pert my breasts would have been were it not for stretch marks. Wahhhhh!

From sad experience I suggest you treat them with tender loving care and OTC stretch mark removal products because they become problematic since the normal skin structure is fouled up.

You can have 2 dates. I have no problem with that. If I was a true betting woman I would guess closer to what Andrea said, New Year's Eve or even earlier in December.

I didn't talk about all my other stretch marks, just the ones on my stomach. John will have to explain my reaction to his pointing out that I was developing stretch marks on my rear. How can that happen? I was a little shocked and, I must say, disturbed when I saw them. Of course after they appeared, I read that it's natural for them to appear on your stomach, thighs, breasts, and buttocks. The marks appeared on my breasts with Erin so I really have no problem with them. Honestly, I'm a modest person who doesn't show my body off so the fact that I have stretch marks anywhere doesn't matter. John doesn't care and I guess I really don't either.

John is a lovely man, and I'm glad stretch marks from bearing 2 of his children don't bother him. If they did, I'd say that deserves a hormonally charged bitch-slap from you.

I say that with love and laughter.

But I mean it.

Woe be the man who crits an expecting companion's ribbons of honor.

I already made my guess of the 9th due to the reasons you've already stated. We'll see.

I wish I had as few stretch marks as you. I am carrying this boy high and have this crazy pattern on marks all around my belly button. (Well what's left on my belly button, which isn't much (it actually sticks out) and freaks my husband out.) Do your hips/pelvis get really painful at this stage. I have this spot on the lower left side of my back at my hip bone that kills me. It hurts so much. And I'm walking like a freak. Been that way for a while now. So far I think I've gained about 37 pounds.

When we were at Baby Waves the tech estimated the baby's weight to be just under 4 lbs. (3 lbs 13 oz to be exact). Supposedly at 30 weeks, we are supposed to be at about 3 lbs so I don't know what to think. I'll wait to see what the real experts say at 34 weeks when the doctor orders another sono.

It's such a strange pain; and I cannot meditate past it like most other pain. I use hot pads when it gets to persistent which helps alleviate it and have started taking Tylenol too. (I rely on the heat pad thing so much, I'm planning to bring it to Shelly's.)

I had a similar problem when I was pregnant with Erin. I think I actually had sciatica. Does your pain radiate down your legs, or does it stay in your back? I would get the pain in my back, just above my hip, and then it would shoot down my leg. It's fairly common, especially in the third trimester. From what I've read, if it's just a backpain, it's most likely hormones and posture associated with being pregnant. Have you talked to your doctor about it?
With this one, the pain is actually in the pubic region. That's where my hernia pops out and it has been painful lately, especially with the weight gain. I sometimes have a hard time walking or even getting up due to the shooting pains.

As my lucky numbers are 6 and 7, I'm betting on baby for the 7th (because the year is 06).

I will sentimentally hope for the 9th. Big dif between betting and hoping. ;o)
