Sometimes, I question that as well, but I can go outside and see God. Like the intricate details of simple things, such as a leaf for example. I think something greater had to have created all of this. It's the only thing that seems logical to me personally

"I dont really agree with this either because human beings have a longing for the truth."
this is kind of a [insert word im trying to think of here] statement. its a misconception to think that all people think exactly the same. its impossible for everyone to think and interpret "god" or anything else the same. you cant just put everyone into a category that everyone longs for the truth, just because its human nature.
i dont even know if im saying what i wanted to get across, but , i dont know. im not really good with words sometimes...
I'm agnostic. There may be a god, there may not. I don't know. But I don't think everything that we see before us today was made by totally random processes. If indeed there is a god, I believe in it more as of a concept than a concrete figure. "God" could be the manifestation of every beautiful, orderly thing within this world, a divine, omnipresent energy that binds the very molecules of our being into the miracle we call life.
Which type of agnostic are u? THeres one type that believes that all knowledge of God is impossible. The other type which is called soft agnosticism, is bascailly the person saying that he or she doesn't know God at the present moment. However, it doesnt mean that there is no way of knowing God.
Interesting. If I thought that all knowledge of God was impossible, I'd call myself an atheist (which I did for a number of years). I don't think I'll ever "meet" God per se, like as a person. "Hey God! How's it hangin?" No. I do believe, however, that God is within ourselves, in a way. Like, everything that makes us up, that manifest beauty and life and everything, is a manifestation of God. I never think of God in concrete terms. It's always abstract thinking. To answer your question, I believe I lean more towards soft agnosticism.
Something that sounds like what you're sayingsonofgloryAugust 3 2005, 02:12:50 UTC
Romans 1:20 says "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made (in your case, everything beautiful), so that they (men) are without excuse (of not knowing God)."

That's called general revelation, where you can see God's power, thus proving His existance, throughout the universe.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a God. A higher being more powerful than anything we could possibly comprehend. Whose presence can be felt at any moment if only you allow yourself to. Yeah. That i do completely believe in.
I believe it because i simply feel something there. Perhaps like the feeling i'm being watched, only it's an entirely comforting feeling. A feeling of understanding and utter peace with the world. It's a feeling i've only experienced in praying or being in the presence of God. No one can really understand what i'm talking about unless they've felt it themselves.
I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything. Just stating why i believe what i do. The basic principles for most of my beliefs are rooted in more than logic. I think you can find more truth in something you feel in your heart is a fact than in common assumptions of truth.

"The Bible and Christianity, at least to me, seems more fraught with hypocrisy and contradictions than it does with reason and truth. I have seen more demonstrations of hate and contempt made by so called Christians than the good they always try to convey

okay, so ive read this whole thing, and to be honest, its really starting to bother me. first of all neil, it seems to me [only my opinion, please do not attack me for it and pick it apart] that you asked this question for all the wrong reasons. you havent been listening to a damn thing that jenna has been trying to say. instead youre just trying to disprove it by using YOUR OWN OPINIONS. and i agree with troy. there is no reason to "justify" as you said, anything that anyone believes. thats why its a belief. it takes hope, faith, etc.. either you or i have completely missed the point of this question, does "god" exist. not everyone is going to agree with you. and you cant just attack them because of it
