I have been in Canada for just over a month now. I landed a job as a Live in Nanny and I am due to start in a week and half. Two weeks ago I got one of those messages on my phone- late a night (so daytime at home) that said "it's mum, ring me ASAP

I am so sorry for your loss. And by all means, if you can afford it--and get back to Canada--then go to her funeral. And if you can't make it back, just know that you Gran is happy that you're living your dream of living and working in Canada and you spent great quality time with her when she was alive. Rejoice in her life and cry over her loss and continue to live the dream she had for you. ((hugs))

Oh, Hon! God I'm so sorry for you all! To be so far away from everyone as well, it must be so difficult for you. I hope like hell the insurance can do something for you cause missing the funeral would be horrible, but giving up Canada isn't right either. Just remember the last time you saw your gran she was enjoying herself, knowing you were off on a trip of a lifetime. The biggest, longest hug possible being sent all the way to Canada. *hugs*
