Question re: "The Nature of Alexander" (Renault)

Jan 22, 2010 20:24

Has anyone read M. Renault's "The Nature of Alexander"?

I was thinking about buying it, but I'd like to know whether it's worth a read. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you :)

I've read it - I got it cheap from a secondhand shop. It was pretty good - I enjoyed it.

Well, I figured as much, considering that Renault has also written Alexander fiction. But since I only want it for my personal entertainment, that's alright with me.

It's very lovely, yes. Especially if you like Hephaistion ;)

It's beautiful prose and one of the pro-AtG camp of history.

Yes, worth reading it and having it on your bookshelf! It's very pro-Alexander, but still beautifully written :)
