Oh, thank you! I'm so glad to hear from you, no matter what the date. I had a nice birthday.
This week we had the "excitement" of my wall oven failing while I was trying to make dinner. (At least it wasn't during Thanksgiving!). Anyway, they don't make wall ovens in the same dimensions that they did forty years ago. So not only do we have the expense of the oven, we also have to have someone come in and reconfigure the cabinet.
I am looking forward to having a new oven - but not this way!
Yikes! Can you get a new oven in before Thanksgiving? How hard is it to find a good carpenter who can do the work? I'm trying not to imagine the hassle and the mess, but I know it's not pretty. Maybe that's a sign you should be guests to someone else's house for the holiday? :-)
At least you'll get a new, shiny oven out of this - so I hope you enjoy it, once the stress of the situation fades.
Oh, I've already done my Canadian Thanksgiving turkey, so no worries there. And we're going to Massachusetts for US Thanksgiving.
One thing about living in a small town - we know who to call. The electrician came over on his lunch break to cut the wires so we could take it out. And a neighbor of ours is a cabinet maker (who works at his own pace) promised to come over tomorrow and modify the hole so that we could get it installed. I may not have cabinet doors for months, but I can live with that.
When I was looking for a new oven to fit the current hole, the sales assistant at the electrical store asked me why I wasn't getting a whole new kitchen. Because I only need a new oven you dolt! I didn't buy the oven from that store.
