My position at a hospital, medical records clerk, was eliminated. I worked there for 25 years and I'm hoping to transfer to a new position or I'm left with 4 weeks of severance pay. For 25 years. I'm so sorry you lost your job and I am sending good thoughts your way for finding another good one soon. I can't offer much except to say it's not you (as you know); it's society. It's increasingly impracticable to be/do/have everything required to get and hold that good job (and I'm talking about before COVID when we supposedly had massively low unemployment but that meant people were driving Uber). Here's hoping for some real reform soon, in whatever form it takes. Meanwhile, it sounds like you've really earned your unemployment benefits. I hope that gives you some buffer.

Thank you. I'll be fine but it helps to articulate how I feel in the moment. My sisters are very supportive and my boss has tried to help as much as she can. I'm sending good thoughts to you too. We're all at the mercy of a bigger, scarier world.
