ok, so, suffering from a melt down because I'm freaked out and the stupid phone in gund won't let me call my mother (because god hates me, clearly, and probably because I don't capitalize his name, or his possesive pronouns either) and so, rather than completing some work so that I feel less panicked (too logical), I'm making a live journal entry ( Read more... )

ok, i dunno what you've read/seen, but: something by umberto eco that is not the name of the rose, maugham's the razors edge, bugakov's the master and margarita, and frank herbert's dune (this one is a quicker read than the others and very very engrossing) oh and anything by rushdie, i've only read midnights children thus far but is was fucking amazing ( ... )

recommendations for myself, so I don't forget them:

- cold comfort farm by stella gibbons

- a very long engagement

- the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

- the woman in white and the moonstone by wilkie collins

Forget just the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which was WAY better than the movie, by the way); this time I can lend you the entire Hitchiker's BIBLE, with all five books in the "trilogy," right after I lend you The Sandman, which is the greatest thing EVER, and I'm sure between Kerry and I you can have read every John Irving book ever invented.

I have the BOOK The Neverending Story, and don't forget that Harry Potter VI is also coming out this summer.

Um...Everyone sounds so literary. I'd propose any number of things to read, but none of them will be to your taste, so I'm going to contribute by NOT offering any of the stuff you'll more than likely turn your nose up at and retort haughtily that I have no taste. I can e-mail the junk I've written for creative writing class! It's crap, but at least you'll get to make fun of me!
