The many news articles that I read about India at 60, got me thinking.

While crossing madivala sabzi market, I thought it would be great if our nation's huge human capital could work towards generating energy - it would solve a few critical problems

We must definitely find ways to turn the huge population into an advantage - this could be one of the ways, let's see.

My impression was this kind of "labour->energy" might be a very inefficient way to go about it, but I should try and follow all the links you posted, and learn something :-)

Hadn't checked yesterday, hope you had a good 15th August, and that the 61st year of independence will be a good one for our country.

gyms = generators? arnabdotorg August 17 2007, 15:46:46 UTC
Why not extend this ideas to gyms, etc? People spend hours pedaling and treadmilling their flab off, I'm sure all the burnt energy can be harnessed for, let's say, the Air conditioning of the establishment or something. This would make gyms energy-neutral, which lightens their consumption off the grid, which in turn benefits all the villages. This way all gym-going people can say: "I'm going to the gym because farmers will benefit!" :)
