Oh Mel, what a heartfelt post. Thanks to tizi17 for the translation. You expressed Ennis thoughts of how useless his life felt, the drudgery and routine so vividly. His discovery of how his and Jack's life mirror each other in its desolation and loneliness. He made a decision to change that and what a difference it has made in his life. That embrace was so moving and I guess it was at that moment he realised how much he cared for Jack. Then, Ennis sitting with Jack the whole night caring for him, holding his hand and burying his face in it reflected the love and tenderness that Ennis feels. That was just lovely. Thanks for writing this and tizi for translating.

Thank you, Jess. I'm really glad you liked it !
I tried to write a story with as many conections to the movie as possible but with the chance for both men to go through a change.
Both men are lonely, both are afraid and mainly Ennis had never had a friend who cared, let alone a lover. So the shyly bonding with Jack is a huge step for him.

Let's see how Jack will react... ;-).

So glad to see this update today. Thank goodness Ennis got there in time--I was wondering how/if they would be in closer contact. Can't wait to read more. ;) xx Jen

Thank you, Kathy !
Yes, they are finally moving closer and I can't wait by myself for the other chapters to be translated ;-)...

Concerning "Fated": I decided to write only one more chapter but somehow I just can't find the way back to this story even though I know exactly what to write. So I guess I need a little bit more time and therefore I asked tizi to go on with the other stories first which are already finished. Even if you have to wait for the translation it won't be too frustrating because you know these stories are finished ;-).

I WILL finish "Fated" too but in this case I don't know when my muse is cooperating again.

"Today he sensed that those years of emptiness had had a meaning. The day today was more reward for the pain of loneliness than he had ever dared to hope for"

I'VE BEEN READING AND ENJOYING THIS STORY FOR A WHILE NOW BUT THIS CHAPTER IS JUST PERFECTION.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WRITING.

Thank you very much !
I'm so glad you liked it. It was not that easy to get both men closer to each other because both of them were so skittish... ;-).
But "thankfully" Jack got the flu... ;-)

I feel sad for Ennis and Jack for the feeling of loneliness is so present in their hearts. It is a real gift that they found each other....And Jack's refusal to go to the hospital remind me of that other chapter about him being attacked and all....a painful experience for i feel it sent Jack s'where he never wanted to go, to feel afraid and etc etc.
Can't wait for the next chapter.

That's exactly the reason why Jack didn't want to go to the hospital. He simply was afraid and in his feverish thoughts he remembered to be at the mercy of a foreign person and he didn't want to go through it again.
