Too late

Pairing: Ennis
Rating: dead!Jack

Disclaimer: I am not Annie Proulx and sadly I never will be her - so all recognition for the wonderful original characters Ennis and Jack belongs to her and her alone. I am only borrowing these two heros and I will give them back, I promise. Obviously I make no money from my story, I’m just passing the time.

Ahhh! Such a tragedy. Poor Ennis, never realizing what he had until he lost it. And poor Jack, going to his death thinking himself unloved by the one person who meant more to him than life itself. For this, he paid the ultimate price. Thank you for this. Carole

I really admire authors who can write cannon. it's been a long time, but it still hurts so much...I would like to think that Ennis will get over it, but I just see him growing old, alone, remorseful and lost.

Awww, the last line just about did me in. When Jack was alive, he kept the dream for both of them. It wasn't until he didn't have Jack that Ennis realized the enorminty that was lost.

Thanks so much for sharing.
