the wisdom of boney m - rivers of babylon

Mar 25, 2007 22:06

Let the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart
Be acceptable in thy sight here tonight

At around 2:10 into Rivers when the male-female of this hits...this, kids, is musical brilliance...I think this should have a youtube attach link, but, well, it doesn't.

Everyone dances at home with their ipod on, right?

Sure I dance at home, but why with your iPod on? Is the little man sleeping? Does he like to dance, too?

It's more I find I have music I want to hear on ipod and not on cd/stereo issue ..tech challenges... The little man stil finds his best rhythm with wiggles, but loves Daddy Cool by the Boney on ipod

I think we're finally moving away from the Wiggles. Kids' shows with no irony at all really freak me out. Maggie never really liked them, but Lucy was devoted.

I have alot of selfish time and respect for the Wiggles...I'm a void as far as local folkllore/song/dance birds/bees/flora/fauna/ stuff.....they help me keep up ...also, as far as kids stuff goes, Anthony Wigges is hot (bue wiggle).

UGH. I meant to post this to everyone, & will soon.

www.imaginationmovers.com

"Beastie Boys meets Mr. Rogers."

Mover Rich is my friend from college, also part of the New Orleans crew that Renard knows.

They are fucking awesome. Rich started them b/c he couldn't fucking stand the wiggles. They just got signed by Disney (!), so they're about to blow. All their songs are about being polite, or taking your medicine, or sleeping tyhrough the night, or cleaning your room or...what it's like to be a katrina refugee. I even like to listen to them.

ENJOY

xoxoxo

PS: Mel, you know Rivers of Babylon is an old Gospel tune, right?

Ahhhhhhhh...well, no I didn't realize that about Rivers being an old gospel song, but that certainly makes sense now. I was wondering about the lyrics in there ..IF ONLY the music was like this the few times I popped into church as a child.

And ta re: recommendation on the ImaginationMovers more ..I'm all for any recommendations of hip kiddie music.

Re: Hip kiddie music:

Growing up my kids were big fans of The Talking Heads, Grateful Dead and Phish. Recently more daughter said, "Dad, I didn't realize until early in high school that other kids weren't listening to the same music. And, thanks." Stop Making Sense was probably their favorite.

Excellent - I intend on same happening with the little man. Bar tolerable kiddie stuff (and I am pro-Wiggles), I'm all about exposing my little man to groovy tunes (who's kidding who - he's my inhouse dance partner ;). Somehow little man caught wind of that bloody purple Dinosaur Barney on tv and wanted to watch it -- NO CHANCE. You said "Boy - you're better than that. Now let's listen to Faith ;)".

Glad to see you alive Dwillster...Hope all is sweet.
