My Aldi Experience

Hey everyone, still around, just really not active. I think twitter killed giving me things to blog about I swear. Anyways though not a whole lot has been going on except a lot of misfortune job and financially in my family, so I'm not really gonna blog about that. We did however do some spring cleaning a couple weeks ago and I'm getting rid of ( Read more... )

I can't wait for our Aldi's to open. That you for the tip on taking my own bags...I need to be better about this when I shop. I'm curious to see if any of their products are gluten-free and how much contains msg...hopefully, we'll be able to do a large amount of shopping there. If not, it will be nice to get things like milk and juice w/o hiking across town.

i don't know that you'll find any of your gluten free stuff or not but your Aldi is going to be bigger than the one we went to at least looking from the outside of the store so maybe they'll carry more stuff. I didn't even really see anything sugar free so I'm not sure they cater to special dietary needs, but hopefully you'll be able to do that cause the prices overall are great

Thank you for your review! It sounds pretty cool. I hope my mom and I get to try one sometime.
My mom insists that she's been to an Aldi before! She said that when she was 18, in Illinois, she always went to Aldi for her groceries. The bag situation and the off-brandness were all the same back then, too.

yah apparently they've had various stores around the US for years, but now are just like trying to take over or something ha ha.
To me it sort of reminds me of a save a lot and other discount stores except that this is even quality with brand when the other discunts stores like save a lot are really cheap and not so hot quality foods.

Costco is the "new big thing" in my town, but who knows what might happen if we get an Aldi! Alot of families at my school have multiple kids and love to find deals on large quantities. They'll definitely have to try this store. :P

How about organics? Do they have any organic fruits & vegetables, or other organic foods?

I don't really think so. I wasn't looking for it though so I may not have seen it. But I don't think they really do much in the way of specialty foods, such as organics, sugar and gluten free foods etc.
Oh and I found out something fun last night. My uncle works for a bread delivery company and if my mother understood him right the brand bread they sell is made by sarah lee... and it's still cheaper than the gorcery store brand loafs.. we usually buy our at Albertsons for like 0.88 and .69 for way better bread feels like such a steal

There is an ALdi near me here in North Fort Worth and I went to check it out. I got a gallon of milk for $1.89 - FAR cheaper than anywhere else! We're milk drinkers and that alone was an awesome find since that was their normal price - NOT a sale price! I should go there when I have a major shopping run to do so I can see how much I save on everyday things. But seeing your experience it looks like it'll be cheaper than hitting Kroger's or Tom Thumb!!

If U have a Renji plushie I'd love to have him to keep my Byakuya company :D And I also hit the Aldi here in North Fort Worth. They don't carry a lot of different items - like just one brand of spagetti sauce but lots of flavors in that brand - but they ARE loads cheaper than Kroger and Tom Thumb! Good deal!
