I saw watchmen yesterday. Went out to dinner with Toshi and his family to celebrate him finishing Masters which was nice.

Got to wear my pretty new dress with with a pretty belt...but GAWD...elastic hurts.

Not reading the comic, I'd put the movie somewhere between OK and good status. Probably closer to good. I went with a group of people with some reading the comic with one in particular being goo-goo over counter culture stuff *ahemB.C.ahem*. It surely would have been boring talking to them about the movie. Fortunately there were others who haven't read the book to talk to about it.

I'm in agreement with Rorschach. The other characters weren't as interesting.

I think the movie, and likely the comic, is doing some sort of commentary on relationships. You have the one that's distant in John and Laurie. You have the one based on violence and likely violent sex with The Comedian and Sally. Laurie and Dan is the one that's based on mutual attraction and interests and is the one that lasts.

As for Sally going back to The Comedian, I'd imagine Sally was lonely and in need of companionship. We get the idea that the superheroes have no one outside of the group to talk to, leaving Sally few options. Maybe Sally believes The Comedian at least has some interest in her, primal or otherwise.

You should eventually read the comic! There is a lot more depth to it and I think you'd enjoy it. I saw the movie yesterday finally as well and liked it. I enjoyed the characters, violence, and thought the movie well recreated the feeling of the comic book.

However, I thought there was wayyyy too much weiner in the movie! WTF!?! I think Zach Snyder, the director, has some issues ^_^
