Giving Back

Nov 15, 2007 13:45

Despite my recent post about some people having "all the luck".  I didn't want anyone to have the impression that I don't consider myself lucky.  I really do.

Anyway, that's a side note.  I want help. Tell me about your favorite Children's Charity.  I'm looking to donate and want a good cause.

Look in your community for your United Way's website. See if they have a Volunteer Center. Honestly? Salvation Army does an amazing job with kids programs right now, but others to consider (try to look locally for similar one's).
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Boys and Girls Club
CASA (Court appt. special advocates)
KVC

I hope a few of these help, these are larger organizations, but they serve a large need.
Also, look to any local programs like I listed before.

(see what you get with me and my new job?)

Thanks! Great info. I did check out United Way. I really want to support a cause that is personal to at least one of my friends!

Ronald McDonald House and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society - both because they have helped my family when we needed it.

Thanks. We make various donations throughout the year, but since I want to make a large donation this month I want to go somewhere I know really does help those in need and that the money doesn't get caught in red tape. Those are both on my short list now. With everything that your family went through I'm glad that there were some organizations that could ease part of the situation.
Thank you again for your personal input!!!
