Ode to Motorola?

The lamest thing about my new cell phone is that it comes with practically no features and makes you pay for anything extra. The games are demos. The ring tones are lame, and if you want better ones, it's an additional charge...not just to buy the phone, but to use the internet on the phone ( Read more... )

Welcome to the wonderful world of cell-phone capitalism.

I have the minimum plan on mine, and still manage to have an extra 300 or so minutes most months.

At least I'm on a family plan, so the 550 minutes are spread among 4 of us. I'm the one that uses it the most though!

Are you on Verizon? I mean, everyone makes you pay for internet, but Cingular's pretty good about allowing you to use your phone's features.

Cingular. I can use the cool ticker thing for free...but texting costs extra, as does using the internet features. The internet thing is fine, but I would have liked to text for free. Oh well.

I don't think those are limitations of your phone so much as limitations by the carrier. To be fair, I'm pretty sure everyone charges extra for the ringtones, though the demo games thing just stinks.

No kidding. It's a demo of Bejeweled too. I mean -- who playes Bejeweled on their phone?

for me, with US Cellular I get about 20 lame ringtones free and whatever else I have to pay for. I have one game... fun... but only one nonetheless. But yeah...

Yeah. The ringtones things is what makes me sad. There are only about 3 useable ones. I've resigned myself to paying for one or two decent ones.

Pretty much all my phone does is let you talk on it. I don't even have demos of games, and the ringtones are all the pretty standard ones.

But it's all good, I don't want my cellphone to be a communication center, I don't even like having one, and certainly wouldn't if I didn't need it.

Mmm...when we were picking out phones, I wanted a flip phone, but with all the features of my old one. Basically - a straight phone. But....they didn't really have one except for the free Samsung, which really didn't interest me because I needed something that would get me decent reception in my cellblock of an apartment. So I had to go with the cheap Motorola...which really cost me $50. :-P
