I've discovered I get a lot more done when John isn't home. He doesn't prevent me from doing stuff but I seem to want to do things around the house when I'm alone. He went out for a fish fry with a ham radio club so I did the dishes (one handed. I hope they are clean LOL) and then baked some bar cookies. I have quite a bit of experience doing ( Read more... )

My right hand was my balancer but my left did most of the work. At one time I was so good with my left that I was able to apply eyeliner with it! Practicing that was comical to be sure :)

I get way more done when Manolo isn't home.
I think I have the ingredients for those bar cookies...hmmm...
you are tempting me!
And go you for being able to do stuff one-handed. I sure can't.
10 days til you go back to work...you are so sweet to make brownies for your co-workers....I hope you get a raise because it sounds like you like the people you work with.
I think I've lost track of where you work!

I just tasted the bar cookies now that they sat overnight and John tasted them for the first time. We both agree they are good. I was very skeptical that it would work because I've never had a dough be that stiff! It did though and I am glad I tried it.

I truly like my co-workers. Pretty much all of them. I've gotten very close to co-workers in the past but I don't remember ever enjoying all of them! I work at The Corner Bakery now. I'm looking to work for the new Meijer grocery store that is opening in August though. I want them to open and get the kinks out before I apply. I hate opening stores and know that quite a few of the original hires quit or are fired so they will be hiring again and that is when I'll apply.

Meijer is moving into WI? Wow! Meijer was founded in my home town of Grand Rapids, MI by a local man. I'm a Meijer girl from Day 1. In MI they have a good reputation for treating their employees well though that may have changed in the last many years for all I know. I still love shopping there and Manolo adores their cream Bismarcks.
:D

I am glad to hear you say that they have/had a reputation for treating their employees well. I hope it's still true. I'm pinning my hopes on them. One or two have already opened and the one I want to work in is opening soon. It'll be a 24 hour store!

My grandma used to make a Tired Momma's Cake which everyone else in this country seems to call a Dump Cake. You know that one? Yellow cake mix, cherry pie filling and a stick of butter. There may have been pineapple. Hm. ANYway, so stupidly good!!

I'm behind on your life again. How did this happen?! I didn't realize you weren't working right now. DOH! I'll catch up now, so prepare to receive comments!

Dump cake! You bet! A friend and I went on a dump cake kick once for a few months and made all sorts of it. Experimenting. We realized it didn't matter what you put in the cake because it tasted good regardless. We made a banana split version. YUM!

I'm off because of the hand surgery. It's working perfectly because there are tons of things I need to take care of. Dr stuff, putting out fires (not literal fires of course), organizing, blah blah blah you know the usual. I've managed to have lunch with my sister and a mini road trip with a friend though.
