During the day I hear birds chirping and kids playing and at night I hear an occasional night bird and lots of crickets. The house next to us has a wooden wheelchair ramp and I hear the kids running. It's patpatpatPATPATPAT and then they are going the other way, PATPATPATpatpatpat. It's so cute! They never walk LOL. Once in awhile a kid will start ( Read more... )

she will miss them if she moves. She won't even know it till she hears the crickets again

Very true.

We mostly only hear traffic at our house. And the occasional coyotes at night. But my favorite noise is the cows. That always makes me smile.

Yes! Mooing makes me smile too. We used to fish in an area that was near a farm that had a donkey. It's braying made me laugh.

Well... Here in Valparaiso we hear crickets, tree frogs, cicadas, cars, and the trains at night. Days it's birds, cars, trains, lawnmowers, airplanes, and people sounds... including kids sounds from the schools...mostly.

At Riverhome at night it's crickets, cicadas, tree frogs, owls, raccoons, and other wildlife at night... sometimes distant cars and sometimes early-ish fireworks from the camp upstream.

Daytime there it's birds, boats, cars, lawnmowers, people, dogs, and cats... And rarely deer and turkey noises... Oh and generators, and guns, (shooting range at the Boy Scout camp) airplanes, and the jets from Grissom Air Force base... Mostly.

Oh yeah I forgot about the planes and lawnmowers. We have an airport near by. When I was living above Mom I'd go see her after mowing the lawn and she'd tell me the sound was a comforting/home-y sound to her. I feel the same way. Especially when you smell the cut grass.

I remember those weird insect noises in the trees around Mom's house and my place on Concordia. They almost sounded like monkeys.

I tried googling what they were. So far people say it's Cicadas or tree frogs. I don't think it's either. For sure not tree frogs. The link to the Cicada sound was closer but not as much of a racket. Still it may be them because on youtube it was just one making the noise. Whatever they were that noise gave me anxiety.
