Okay - so I am alive still. My laptop refuses to speak to the wifi at my hotel though, so I am using their guest computer. It has a French keyboard, so I can not type or find the keys I need... plus it is not a proper keyboard... can not explain right at the moment though. I'm on the train back to Rimini, where I'll be getting a plane back to London. From there, tomorrow morning I'll be taking the Eurostar to Paris.
