Why do people need the year to start over to change things?

I expect it's simpler that way. 'Out with the old and in with new.'

But the only thing that really changes is the year number.

True, but a symbol can be just as powerful without a physical marker to go with it.

That's a long time to procrastinate.

People are laaaazy. And then they follow through with it for about a month and then give up, saying they'll do it the next year.

It's a cycle of fail.

'Cause it's easier to say th'future will be different? They hope this year will be different 'cause last year sucked. So, since th'new year has to be better, they tell themselves they should be, too.

An' then they fail at it, anyway.

Sounds like something you'd do.

If it was important enough, they wouldn't.

Most of those people don't seem to stick with it very long ...
