A very interesting HP article excerpt (no HP5 spoilers)

Jul 16, 2003 23:34

The irony of Christian objections to Harry Potter is that they are uniformly made against their magic and 'occult elements.' There is a real danger in the occult, and I protect my children from any exposure to it, even in 'popular culture'. Objections to the magic in Harry Potter, however, mistake the edifying use of magic in literature for actual ( Read more... )

By the way, I've been meaning to tell you for a long time that you can find lots of HP LJ icons here:
http://www.virtuallycentral.com/gallery/showgallery.php?thumb=1&cat=29&si=&perpage=30&sort=1&stype=&ppuser=

You have to click on most of them to view them properly.

Thanks! Unfortunately out of ALL the ones there, none of them struck my fancy. I must be hard to please. ;-) Thanks for sending me that link, though. I shall save it for future reference...like when my taste changes, which is likely.

She admits to being physically incapable of being in the same room with a Narnia book and not sitting down to read it.

LOL...there should be a name for that disease, as I have trouble too. ;)

Good article. Makes me want to sit down and read the HP series again.

That is an interesting perspective!

To me he is thought provoking to the point where I start thinking too much, and I start toying with insanity. That's an exaggeration, but it is somewhat how I feel sometimes.

He is such a great writer! Not many writers can provoke people to so much thinking.

This being your last public entry, can you add me back, please? :) (instead of getting rid of lj I'm severly cutting back my friends list, and you are one that I want to keep. :))

Hi! I am not responding to your journal, I'm responding to your web page. Violetvale recommended we go look at it, and I'm so glad I did. I didn't realize you even had a page up, and I see you post to my friends journals from time to time and always think, "I wonder what she's like." I was surprised you had pictures up and stuff because all of your usericons are not you.

Anyway, it was a pretty site and your design/artwork is nice! Have a great day. :)

Oh, and I'm only responding in your LJ because your guestbook wasn't working when I tried.

Oh, thanks for letting me know! Someone else told me it didn't work, but I forgot to repair it. Bravenet did something recently that made my guestbook stop working, grr.

Anyway, thanks for the reminder. :-)

Thanks! How sweet of you. :-)

Yeah, it is kind of funny how I am careful not to use my real picture as my LJ icon (I actually have two or so that are my real face, but I usually make it a point to not use them outside of the privacy of my journal), yet I have many pictures of myself on my website. I think the reason I don't use my picture on LJ where "strangers" can see it is because I don't want them to judge my comments by my appearance. I'd rather let me words stand or fall on their own. :-)

You've always sounded like an interesting person to me too! I'd ask you to add me as a friend, but I've reached my max as far as how many friends I can keep up with at a time. Actually, I think I'm over my limit, ahhhhh, LOL. Anyway, see you around on other people's journals at least! :-)
