Pictures: Baby knits

Jul 24, 2006 15:05

My latest projects have been baby knits! A handful of mothers in my church have had babies in the past few months, and it has kept me busily knitting.

I have quite a few more knitting projects that I haven't posted yet, but here are the latest ones for now.

A lot of pictures! )

Wow that's awesome. I've just begun teaching myself to knit! It's great to see your finished work. I'm still trying to figure out how to purl (like I said I'm teaching myself out of books, it makes it a little tough).

How fun! I learned to knit about a year ago, and I've completely fallen in love with it. :-) A friend taught me how to do the garter stitch, and I've picked up most everything else from books or videos I've found online.

The purl stitch isn't hard--it's nearly like the knit stitch, you just knit in front of your left-hand needle, instead of in back. And you wrap your yarn on top, rather than behind. :-)

Wow, you've only been knitting for a year?! Your work looks great, I'm looking forward to being able to make cute stuff.

Yeah, just a year. I really had to think about that when I said it because it seems I've been knitting SO much longer! But it has been a year. I learned right at the beginning of last June. :-)

The book I used most for learning, which was SUCH a big help, was Hip to Knit. Check it out!

Great work! Interesting tidbit on diagonal bias, too... wouldn't have thought of that.

I didn't know about the diagonal bias either until I read it somewhere. But it made sense because clothes cut on the bias (like a bias skirt) are much more clingy than clothes cut on the grain.

Oh, WOW! Beautiful work! My sister has been making blankets (and currently aspiring to hats:D) for the NICU at my school for the preemies. If you run out of church babies, you could try that if you wanted. :)

Why thank you! :-D I actually was approached about doing baby hats, but that was back when I was still working on how to do scarves, so I couldn't even think of hats at that point. :-)

The extent of my knitting accomplishments is scarves and dishcloths. :P
