Chapter 8

“Got any news from him?” Yoochun shook his head when he heard Seungah ask him that question. Yoochun never felt as helpless as in that moment. Junsu had been absent from school for about a week and when he asked his friends, they said that he was sick. As a goodboyfriend, of course he was worried as hell. However, Junsu didn’t pick up his phone when he called him and didn’t even speak a word to him when he called his hyung’s house. He knew far too well that this would happen since the clinic incident and his words to him were kind of… rude, but he didn’t think that it would get Junsu very sick and lead him to avoid him like this.
“Are you guys seriously not fighting or anything?” asked Seungah lightly, hand playing with her hair. A week of not hearing Junsu’s voice at all was really driving him crazy. He slammed the table in front of him snapping and startled his friend.
“We’re not, Seungah! Why can’t you just believe me?!”. Irritated at hearing Yoochun’s loud answer, she slowly took several steps towards him and hit him on the head. She then stepped back immediately from him-running away from the mad Yoochun.
“No need to be rude, dude! I was just asking!”
Yoochun  was left alone with his fisted hand and frustrated mind.
-O-Jaejoong was in the middle of opening his office door when he felt the phone in his pocket vibrate. He didn’t pick it up right away because he had some new stoke boxes in his hands. After putting them aside, he brought his hand to take his phone out from his pocket. A series of unknown numbers showed up on its screen. He tapped on the green button right away in case this was an important call.
“Yobeoseyo?”
“Ne, yobeoseyo, Mr. Kim. I am Kim Jiyool’s homeroom teacher, Lee Yuri.” He held his breath hearing the woman’s voice, Jiyoolie’s teacher calling me? He face palmed his face in aware.
“Ah yes, Mrs. Lee what did my daughter do this time? Did she-“ His mind couldn’t help but immediately think of the worst scenario but before he could talk any longer the teacher butted in and cut his words.
“No, no, Mr. Kim, don’t worry Jiyool is doing fine. She didn’t do anything bad lately. Just having some issues with her friends but they’re being cooperative again. I’m not calling you to talk about Jiyool, actually.”
“I thought she was fussing around again, thank God, she isn’t.” Jaejoong sighed in relief after hearing that. He slowly walked to his chair and sat himself on it.
“Well, what do you want to talk about then?”
“Some days ago, there was a man that come here looking for Jiyool. We were busy with planting that day and that’s why the security didn’t let him meet her. But in these last three days, that man keep on coming here again and asking for Jiyool. We’re so worried that he’ll do anything bad to her so I decided to call you to confirm him first.” The pen that was on Jaejoong’s hand fell when he heard Mrs. Lee following words.
“Do you by any chance know a man named Jung Yunho, Mr. Kim?”
Oh my Godness!
-O-“Yes, and their kitties too.” Jaejoong laughed and shook his head in amusement. Typical Kim Jaejoong’s daughter. He brought his hand to pat on Jiyool’s head. The latter giggled for a while before she turned in silent, eyes set on her mother again.
“Mama, do I have an appa?” as Jaejoong heard his daughter’s question, the sweet smile that was plastered on his mouth gradually faded away. He was almost turning numb. His heart felt like it was being stabbed by her light, innocent question.
It’s not like he didn’t have the answer, he had the answer but…could he really answer her question with his own mouth? That man, the father of his daughter. Despite how much Jaejoong wanted to tell Jiyool about him, he still had to bury the memories of him.
He had his own life, Jaejoong. You have to remember it.
“Mama~ do I have an appa?”
“Well I think… so.”
“You think so?”
“You think so, mama?” Jaejoong nodded halfheartedly and Jiyool could see that her mother didn’t look at her straightly. She tilted her head in confusion at first, but then something struck her brain and she realized. If her mama was behaving like this, she must have been really hurt. Jiyool smiled to herself and touched Jaejoong’s hand as she talked.
“Mama… let’s not talk about this, okay? Can we… umm, can you help me fix this? I couldn’t draw the lines straight!”
-O-He closed his eyes at that memory, and Mrs. Lee was still waiting for his confirmation over the line.
Jiyool was growing bigger everyday and it was about time for her to question him about his father again and Jaejoong had grown tired of keeping everything to himself. Misleading everyone in one wrong direction for years and have made Yunho the only person to blame.
Jaejoong sighed before opening his mouth to speak.
“He can… he can see her, Mrs. Lee.”
-O-The first time he signed his name on the soccer club form, Junsu never thought that his dream of being a soccer player would end up like this. That he would get knocked up this early and thus have to choose between the baby and his soccer. Of course, he didn’t have any choice but to choose the baby over everything since the baby himself also never had any choice to choose his own mother.
And after the clinic incident two weeks ago, he had been down with a fever for a full week and been absent from school for about five days. The guilt from whatever he had done or thought or said was really eating him alive. All the exhaustion that he held down in the past weeks accumulated and pulled him down to the ground. He could barely eat. Anything that he ate would just come back up in no time. Junsu felt disgusted by himself, for ever thinking of killing his baby, for ever agreeing with Yoochun’s will.
A full week down with a fever. Of course his hyung had asked him countless time to visit the doctor, to get his health checked. Jaejoong even volunteered to accompany Junsu there and was ready to take an absence from work if Junsu wanted to, but he rejected all his offers. The doctor was the very last person that Junsu needed in that moment ‘cause everything would get revealed to Jaejoong in a matter of time. And he didn’t want that for now.
His hyung had also suspected about him fighting with Yoochun as the cause of his sickness, which he boldly declined.  And his mind kept telling him that he had to take care of everything before anyone noticed about his body’s changes. So despite of his hyung’s rants about how pale he was, Junsu decided that it was time to go back to school.

From what he had heard from his classmates, Yoochun had been coming to find him while he was absent. He didn’t care. He wanted to do his best to avoid Yoochun until he was forced to meet him. Since Junsu’s purpose of coming to school wasn’t to mend his problem with Yoochun, he didn’t think that he needed to meet or even talk to him after all.

Right after school had ended, Junsu immediately came to the soccer club’s office to take a certain form-a stack of paper colored in blue with bold-capital letters of ‘RESIGNATION FORM’ on it.
He thought that his presence in the team wouldn’t be effective anymore and yeah…he would start to get very noticeable soon so it would be a bad idea for him to be on the team. It would be bad for everyone’s sake, for the club’s and also the school’s reputation.
Junsu took a deep breath to encourage himself before pulling his hand out to take a sheet from the form stack. Taking it very carefully from its holder, he then put it inside his bag quickly. Junsu left the room in a puff, not even thinking of looking back. He didn’t even notice a pair of eyes that had been watching him the whole time he was there.
-O-As soon as he got off the bus, Junsu rushed in a certain direction, almost running and bumping into countless people on his way. It was he who begged Jae-hyung permission to pick Jiyool although his hyung had said that he would have picked her up by himself.
Looking back to his wristwatch, it showed that it was 5PM and Junsu cursed to himself slightly for mindlessly staying a little too long at the club after he took the resignation letter, even though he didn’t join the others to play. His phone had been ringing for only God knows how many times and had got him a bit irritated since he knew far too well who was the caller.
Junsu’s hand rummaged the bag he was using looking for the ringing thing. When he found the phone, he tapped on the green button forcefully.
“What, hyung?”
“Dongsaeng-ah, are you still far?”
Pfft, you called me dongsaeng-ah, hyung?
“Just a few meters away, hyung. I’m close to flying my legs off the ground, you know?” he yelled. Jaejoong yelled back at him to the extent that Junsu had to keep his ears away from the phone’s speakers.
“Faster! Mrs. Lee is kind enough to stay with her ‘till you get there every day, you know that?!”
“Yes arasseo, arasseo, you noisy ajumma! I’ve arrived. I’m entering the gate now! Bye!” He harshly ended the phone call and headed to the lounge as fast as he could. When he saw Jiyool sitting on the lounge with her teacher, he quickened his steps and bowed down immediately when Mrs. Lee caught his panting self.
“Annyeonghaseyo, Lee-sonsaengnim. I’m sorry for making you stay with Jiyool until I arrived again.” The elder woman in front of him got up from her seat and bowed back to Junsu. She nodded at his words, she understood his reason (even without asking) since this wasn’t the first time for him to be late to pick his niece up. His school was not near and the teenager in front of her was kind of not looking very well, if she could tell. Mrs. Lee smiled back to Junsu in sympathy.
“That’s okay, Junsu-goon. It is my task to make sure all my students go home safely.”
“Now you’re here, I’m gonna go back to my office again, I have got so much work,” Mrs. Lee told him. Junsu nodded at her, still panting from running and beads of sweat trickling down his chin. He saw Mrs. Lee shifting and crouching in front of Jiyool, maybe saying goodbye and such. Junsu didn’t really pay attention to them since he was still busy trying to catch his breath and holding down the slight discomfort in his stomach. Man I shouldn’t run! I ain’t allowed to!
He let himself sit on one of the chairs; wiping his sweat and fanning himself as he let the queasy sensation in his stomach fade away. Junsu didn’t even notice when Jiyool found him staring blankly and when she inspected him rather intensely.
 “Junsu-oppa!”
Junsu’s hand was about to caress his stomach if Jiyool hadn’t called and startled him. She woke him up from his dreamland. He immediately turned his head to his niece and smiled in an apology.
“I’m sorry I am too tired. I didn’t notice you earlier.” Jiyool huffed at his word. She knew way too well that her umma was the one behind this! How poor my oppa is!
“You don’t need to take mama’s words too seriously, oppa. He wouldn’t understand how busy my handsome oppa is~” protested Jiyool, and a cute pout showed up right after. She then brought her hands to help Junsu wipe his sweat and gave her a water bottle to his oppa to drink. Junsu took it gladly and emptied the bottle right away.
After his exhaustion was subsided, he got up from the chair and signaled Jiyool to get up too.
“Let’s go home! Your umma will scold me if I didn’t bring you right this time.”

-X-The story is becoming more and more weird haha. Sorry for the long waiting, just recently found a new home in APC and didn't realize that I've leave this story for almost a month :D
