"Ask people why they don't play like that", Okita's voice was strangely hollow for once. People aren't nice. Most people were selfish, didn't care about other people's feelings and that was something Okita had experienced firsthand.

Okita slowly approached Feliciano from behind. "I hope you'll be pleased with it."

He whirled around with suspiciously narrowed eyes, he didn't like having Okita at his back. "Thank you," he said tensely.

"And I don't care why people don't play nice. I'm going to make them play nice. People can be very rude and silly. Sometimes you have to help them along to their happiness. It's for their own good. I'm going to start in my own house. Italy will be a nice and happy country."

Okita was a bit amused at Feliciano's reaction. For some reason a part of him enjoyed making people uncomfortable. "You're welcome."

"How do you plan to make them play nice? That is really not an easy task", he said, hints of admiring were in his voice.

"It can't be any harder than to get them to do other things," he replied cheerfully. "Do you have any idea how easy it is to convince people to kill and die for their nation? Over the last two thousand years, so many people have died for me..." There was a note of wistfulness in his eyes for a moment, but it was gone as quickly as it had appeared. "Humans are easily led. They want to obey someone they believe to be greater than themselves. For now, I will have to punish the bad children. But they will see in due time that my ideas are for their best!"

Okita had to restrain a lot of himself to not just pull his sword on Feliciano right there and then. Not because it was wrong, no, because as much as Okita hated to admit it, he was right. Painfully right. They were no different. They served first and foremost their country, ready to die for the safety of the shogun if they had to and keep the peace in their country. It never changed the fact that people even hated them for this.

Not that Okita particularly cared for either, but Feliciano had hit another sensitive spot and that was serving someone greater than himself.

"What kind of punishment do you intend to give them?"

"Ve~ I have many children. Millions of children. I would like to sit each and every one of them down for a stern talking-to, but I can't, can I?" He huffs poutily. "So I have no choice but to kill the naughty ones. You have to remove the bad apples, see?"

He gives Okita a brilliant smile. Feliciano has no idea just how close he had been to being killed.

He has probably still no idea that Okita's hand was still somewhat restless on the hilt of his katana, though his face wasn't betraying any of his emotions.

"So you want to have all of the bad children killed?", he asked, a nonchalant grin crossing his face.

Feliciano nodded with a happy laugh. "Yes, I do! It's a good plan, isn't it? Only the nice ones will remain. That will make for a happy, obedient nation. It'll make them think twice about misbehaving, too!"

"And that goes only for your own nation?", Okita asked. He would weight a lot on Feliciano's next answer. Which course of action to take, if the time was right to strike or if it hadn't come yet.

"Of course not," Feliciano replied immediately. That smile of his had turned harsh again.

"Other nations never leave you alone. No matter how much you just want to live your own life, sooner or later they will come and harrass you. Bully you. I think it's time someone teaches them some manners, wouldn't you say so?"

"And you think you have it what it takes to lead the world? What would your friends say to that?", the hand that had previously rested on his katana slightly wrapped over Feliciano's shoulder.

"You know, Japan wouldn't be too happy if you told him that."

The moment that hand touches his shoulder, he tenses. Only for a moment, though, before he forces his body to relax again... but he knows it's too late. Okita knows. If he didn't, Feliciano would have never hired him. He can't play unaffected anymore, but that's not the only game he can play.

So he turns, slowly enough so as not to startle Okita into a possibly lethal reaction. His lips shape a coy smile. "Does it concern you, whether Japan is happy?" he trills sweetly. "Would you not rather I am happy? Would you not rather you are happy?" He lets these questions hang in the air, hoping Okita will catch the implication that Feliciano being happy will lead to Okita's happiness as well.

"Happy? Me?", Okita laughs a bit at that suggestion. There was only one thing - or rather, one person that could bring him true happiness and that was certainly not Feliciano.

"You know, of course I am concerned if Japan is happy", it was the country they served, after all. If their group did well, Kondou would be happy. That was everything that counted. "You are his friend though, so I am sure he would like you to be happy", Okita tightened his grip lightly, a dangerous look lingering in his eyes as if to warn not to do anything stupid.

There is the tiniest furrowing of his eyebrows, a slight sign of annoyance the sweet mask shows. "Of course Japan would want me to be happy," he says lightly, "and I would like him to be happy, too. Friends always look out for another. We used to watch another's backs. I mean no harm to Kiku." Unless he meant harm to Feliciano, anyway, but there is no need to bother with details.
