Hang on--

[Rose shifts, stuffing the torch in her mouth now that it's out a few inches, she can grab on as well, and she does, tugging along side Trillian.

It comes out faster, and she gives one last hard, final pull, jerking it away from the wall.]

Yes! ( best team ever! she couldn't even imagine what this would be like if she was stuck with zaphod or marvin.

quickly, she hurries through the opening, walking on stepping stones now. ) Now this has to have been done on purpose, yeah?

[Admittedly, it might be nice to have the Doctor around, but only if he wasn't the one that got them attacked in the first place. Still, they were doing just fine on their own, and she'd go for a high five moment, except the situation was a bit serious.

Rose is right behind on those stepping stones, though.] Oh, no doubt. No way those villagers knew about this, though. Must be ancient. Which can only mean trouble. Where's Indiana Jones when you need him?

( right, high fives for later, trillian will remember that. ) Well, if you see a hat, he can't be far behind, right?

Say, can I borrow the torch? ( she pauses and holds her hand out ) Just in case there's a huge boulder or something.

Fingers crossed that we see a hat, then. Or a flashing green 'exit' sign. Or the way back to the ship. Any of that'd just be brilliant.

[She hops from stone to stone, pausing a second to pass over the torch. If Trillian's leading the way, she doesn't need it at the moment, anyway.] Careful, that's the only one we've got, unless there's a convenient set of actual torches, like there always happens to be in films. I'm thinking that might be a bit much to hope for, though.

Ah, thanks. Better without the fire hazard, I always say.

( trillian falls silent as she steadily moves forward, only the distant sound of water dripping in her ears. and, sure enough, she starts to see markings, unintelligible to her eyes, mostly different geometric shapes. then, there it is, as if right out of an indiana jones installment: a large, stone throne surrounded by offerings covered in cobwebs and dust )

Oh, heavens...

[Her mouth falls open as she steps forward, checking the ground, because... well in films, if you step on weirdly shaped stones, you nearly get impaled with poisonous blow darts.]

What I wouldn't give to have the translation circuit back in my head. [She sighed, bracing her hands on her hips.] D'you remember that scene in Aladdin, where that thing tells him not to touch the rest of the treasure? I'm getting that vibe here. Let's just... leave that stuff alone, yeah?

If only the Babel Fish worked for, y'know, the eyes. ( she observes, nodding along ) Yeah, I'm not moving anything an inch!

Curious, though, how this has spent all this time down here without much human interaction since, I suppose, the last ruler sat on the throne.

Babel Fish, I'm guessing that's a translator? [She edges around the offering table to get a look at the thrown, squinting to see through the darkness illuminated solely by the white torch light.]

What d'you think it's--

[She stops, frowning.]

Can you feel that? That's a breeze.

Sort of! Yes. You put it in your ear - it's a real fish and, well, it sounds rather nasty ---

( she stops, her eyes going wide, because, yes, she did feel that breeze, too ) Blimey. How's there even an opening for air down here?

You put it... in your ear. [Suddenly the TARDIS translation circuit doesn't seem so bad. A... fish?]

I dunno, it must be some sort of... way out, but I can't see anything, it's too dark.

( she grins and taps her temple ) It's icky, but very helpful.

Here, take my hand. ( trillian extends her arm ) At least we can try to keep each other upright, yeah?

[She nods, groping forward, heading in Trillian's direction.

At least until her foot catches an abnormality in the rock, and she's sent lurching forward, knocking into the offerings table.]

Everett groans, leaning against a wall, holding his hand to his stomach. Why did this scene feel like deja vu? Either way, the amount of blood gushing from his stomach is too much.

"Like hell am I going to die on some godforsaken rock..." He growls weakly, moving to crawl over to the DHD. He was going to dial home and die on Earth if needs be...

Not good. Not good. She said this was a bad idea, didn't she? He should've listened, he should've listened, but now she's gone and got him killed, and it was all her fault. Had to go exploring, had to wander off and get attacked, and now he was...

Her left arm was out of socket, she couldn't lift him, couldn't carry him, just kept tugging him on with her right. "S-shut up, you're not gonna die, don't be stupid. You can't die, this is just-- just another story for later, yeah?"
