[Since their disagreement on the quad, Clint had been avoiding being alone with Thor as much as he humanly possible. Unfortunately, the powers that be or perhaps just their superiors decided enough with that shit and placed them on a mission together.]

[They were tracking down clues about the men who'd attacked them and been killed by the unknown group of people pulling their strings. Clint was capable of being civil with the Asgardian but their time together was decidedly lacking in the easy banter they'd engaged in before. Though the archer tried to convince himself their aborted attempt at a relationship wouldn't affect their friendship, he wasn't sure how to stop even that relationship from going on the skids.] Tony says they explosives lead back to A.I.M. so you wanna start rattling cages there?

[on his part, Thor liked being close to Clint in general, and that hadn't changed much. He knew enough of his friend to realise his frosty demanour was nothing more than a shield, and he wished he could lessen the guard he had put up. But he had said no more would be said on the subject and resigned himself to that.

The re-opening of the investigation had been a little disconcerting - that they placed them, the very supposed targets on the job for one, was a logical, but risky move. It looked suspicious, so they tread doubly careful.

Thor resolved to take a better care because of it.]

I believe so. But I fear it may be a trap, even so. Should it not have been harder to track?

[-- it wasn't as if he had accumulated more knowledge lately, just that he was cautious.. and sometimes the things Bruce and Tony told him made a little sense when slowed down and broken up...]

Bill Nye the Science Guy there says every explosive has some chemical signature and apparently this one has M.O.D.O.K.'s greasy little pawprints all over it. [Clint wasn't a science geek by any stretch of the imagination but trusted Stark and the other scientists when they said something.]

Heard some rumors about A.I.M. doing some dirty dealings down at the harbor. So I figure it can't hurt to bang on some doors and knock a few heads together till we get some answers. [Clint said studying the layout of the docks intently.] 'Sides, I dunno about you but I think these jackasses got a little payback comin' their way.

Agreed. [his grip on Mjolnir tightens, and twists a little in readiness. He glances at his profile a moment.] Clint... as you wish, I will follow. [but his reservations remained.]

[The very model of professionalism which was unnerving in its own right, Clint nodded quietly.] Right, let me get some equipment and I'll meet you back here in five minutes?

[there's a slight pause where he nods.] Of course.

[but Thor, was never one for patience in such matters once he had set his mind. He couldn't shake the bad feeling, wanted to chase it and so when Clint returned he would be gone ahead.]

[Clint was all kinds of pissed off when he got to the briefing room only to find Thor already gone.] Son of a bitch. [Snarling under his breath, he punched in the code to ping Thor's transponder built into the man's Avenger's identicard.]

This shit's gonna stop. [Grumbling under his breath, the archer headed for the hanger where his skycycle was kept and programmed Thor's transponder location into the craft's onboard navigation. With that, he tore out of the hanger in search of his obstinate partner.]

[Thor's steps were agile, quick. You couldn't call what he did an infiltration so much as.. he knocked out the more lazy of the guards and walked through the very door they had been guarding. Shaking his head, he muttered under his breath, swapping Mjolnir to his other hand.] Fools.

[but he wasn't referring to those he had left behind, but the crowd at the foot of the stairs he was descending down. In the half-light, their visors caught and shone. Thor could see his own smile reflected there and as he took a running leap, he cried out loudly as the gunfire rained -

Stuns, he could see, which meant their friends still wanted to capture them and not kill. Interesting.]

[The sounds of battle was what told Clint he'd found the right place. Shouts, cries of pain and the thud of blows landing. Hawkeye curried down the stairs after the sounds, bow drawn and at the ready.]

[He fired two arrows in quick succession, the specialized arrowheads sending out a powerful electrical pulse. Tasers meant to take the enemy down and keep them there.]

[Clint knelt near the top of the stairs so he had a better view of the murky looking room. Anger shoved down somewhere deep, he concentrated on covering Thor instead and shot a couple more arrows at the assailants trying to swarm the Asgardian.]

[the corner of his vision and the keener sense of his hearing tuned to the arrows was enough to let Thor know his friend was close and had caught him up. But, enough - they had much to do and these men were in a larger group for attack to ward them off.]

Higher ground, friend!

[it's the only warning Clint will get as he strikes, breaking the ground to seperate a deep groove between the exits and behind. No more could get in, or get out. He knelt by the ground, smirking. Of course, the same wouldn't apply for himself.]

[Aghast, Clint watched Thor as he split the very ground beneath the stairs. Not needing to be told twice he ran back up towards the exit.]

Are you fucking INSANE!? The roof will collapse! Thor!

Then it is well we don't need it - [he informed him sharply. This was no time to lose focus - Thor turned his head, a curt nod as he dropped below.

This was not the only underground in this building - he had been paying close attention. The majority of the assailants had come from further below.

He slowed as he landed, waiting for Clint for a few seconds - hoping he understood. If not and they had to seperate, he would have a mind at least to secure the top before he came back!]

Doesn’t need it? Doesn’t need a fuckin’ roof? [Hawkeye snarled under his breath.] You’re insane! You know that? [He shouted down the now dark hole where his partner was no doubt planning new ways to get his ass killed.]

[Snarling under his breath, Clint wheeled around suddenly and pinned the guy who’d been trying to get the drop on him to the wall with four carefully placed arrows.] Thought you could get the drop on me, huh?

Thor! Don’t go haring off on me, dammit! [With the one assailant neutralized, Clint concentrated on taking out his buddies as quickly as possible while keeping the gaping hole leading underneath the building at his back.]

Not at all -- [his arms are then raised, caught in someone else's, scrabbling uselessly for a gun and he slams hims to the ground over his back, frowning as he looks at him. As if they hadn't been interrupted.] I did wait.

[Spitting mad now, Clint clung to the lip of the hole and dangled before dropping the four feet down to the ground.]

Really? You waited for me back at base? Because that sure as fuck looked like you were running off half-cocked alone to me!
