[Sorry Elijah, but Damon's stubborn and refuses to take orders from the likes of you. Elijah may consider himself to be the man in charge and that may very well be true, but it's likely that Damon will fight him every step of the way] bloodshed and overall mayhem is hard to miss when it's all that's being talked about. [Which is to say he hasn't been keeping up with the news personally, just waiting for people to regurgitate it back to him]
It would have to be Boston wouldn't it? Boston and I aren't exactly on speaking terms. [But Damon gets in his car anyway. At least they're taking his]
[Damon doesn't even bother to look at Elijah until after he's started the cart. He rolls his eyes exaggeratedly at Elijah's silent question as though to ask one of his own: Isn't it obvious?] Let's just say that I really enjoyed my stay on Boston. Some of the kinder Bostonians promised to stake me if they ever saw me again. [Of course there are only a select few who know what he is, but that's all he really needs]
I see. [Yeah, cue totally unsurprised look. But a moment later, he glances at Damon.] Does Stefan know about that particular escapade?
[Could potentially be a problem. It's Klaus making the decisions about where he and Stefan go, but if he's clever - and he is - he might expect Damon to come after his brother and therefore choose an inconvenient location. Or maybe it's just a coincidence.]
I didn't exactly tell him about it but Stefan isn't always a complete idiot. He probably saw the news and figured out what was going on. It was at a time when Stefan and I weren't nearly as close as we are now.

They've left a trail leading north out of Virginia. The last I heard was Boston, Massachusetts. I assume you've been following the news?
[As he speaks, he'd heading out towards - hey, look, it's Damon's car. He gives Damon an expectant look.]

Elijah slips into the passenger seat beside Damon and raises an eyebrow at him. It's a silent question: not on speaking terms?]

It's funny, you say that as if you could possibly make a difference. I'll remind you what I said about respect.
