You want to pick a number hun or do you want me to? lookforcreator October 8 2011, 18:43:14 UTC
"Charles?" Confusion... he's not sure what's going on.

Is Erik the one with memory loss, or Charles? I rolled a 5? brokenoptimism October 8 2011, 22:43:01 UTC
"...Erik?" Charles is no less confused than Erik, regarding his old friend carefully.

We'll make Erik lose his memory. lol My pup is gonna hate me. Oh no. *snickers* lookforcreator October 9 2011, 23:35:22 UTC
"Hmm?" He asks looking over toward the telepath giving him a small smile. "What's wrong, Charles?" He's not going to say that he's lost some of what... yeah, it wasn't good.

Charles feels awful for even doing it. He had sworn to Erik that he would not read his mind, but his powers had a mind of their own sometimes lately, and that big empty chunk of time hadn't caught him off guard, the other man's recent behavior would have.

"Are you quite all right, old friend? You have been acting a bit... off colour today."

"Nothing's wrong," he says watching him. Then again he wasn't just going to outright mention that there were things he'd forgotten. It just... "Charles?"

"Really." That incredulous 'don't lie to me' look crosses his expression, his arms crossed in front of him. "Then tell me, Erik. Do you remember why we're here?" He gestured around them at the shell of Charles' mansion. He had grown suspicious when Erik had seemed distracted earlier in the day, but then he had mentioned things that didn't make sense, confused the other mutant by bringing up long expired conversations. Something was wrong, and it was clear by his expression that Charles had figured that much out.

He's pretty sure he's had that look thrown at him before but... he doesn't remember it. Though he hadn't expected the interrogation coming from the telepath. Did he remember why... he sighs and shakes his head. "No. I don't know why we're here. The place doesn't even really look all that familiar to me."

That was not at all a good response. Charles knit his brows together slightly. At the very least, Erik remembered his name, and that at least, was promising. But there was no telling how much his friend had lost. He directed Erik towards a chair, concern evident in his expression. He had always been more of a chess player than a poker player.

"Erik, tell me, do you remember my sister, Raven? and Hank?" It was as though someone had been erasing Erik's memories. How long had this gone on without him noticing? A spark of anger floated it's way into his concern. If another mutant had done this... Why. Who would do such a thing?

"Stop with all the questions, Charles. My head hurts enough as it is," he says sitting down in the chair he'd been directed to. He sighs and leans forward resting his head on his knees. This was all too much to handle. And why in the hell was Charles throwing names at him for?

[ooc: lol If Charles wants to break Erik.]

Charles sighed, crouching next to the chair, his eyes never leaving Erik. How had this happened without him noticing? This was the sort of thing he should have been able to stop, to detect at least.

"I'm sorry, Erik. Take a moment to rest. I'll try to keep my curiosity at bay." He let his mind reach out, carefully searching Erik's thoughts for any clue, any sign of how bad this memory loss was or what may have caused it. He hated to do this to Erik but he needed to know.

Months. That's what was missing when Charles looked into Erik's mind. Quite a few months at that. Hell, the master of metal didn't even realize that the telepath was in his mind and that's normally something he noticed. Closing his eyes he shakes his head, "What did we do last?"

Charles grimaced as the extent of memory loss was revealed. Searched for the lost memories, tried to find a reference point they shared, a blocked portion of his mind those thoughts may have vanished to. The fact that Erik had lost so much time worried him for more reasons than one. It was possible another telepath could have done this. But why?

On the bright side, Erik was not trying to fight him, he searched for Erik's trust like a lifeline as he placed a hand on Erik's knee, withdrawing from his mind. Erik had not recognized the mansion, seemed upset by the names of the younger mutants. Charles had a feeling he was even further back on their timeline than he had anticipated.

"My friend, I do not wish to confuse you with too many questions. Can you tell me what you remember after we were pulled from the ocean?"

There was nothing to fight and he trusted the telepath with his life. Why wouldn't he? It's not like he remembers anything. Was there something that he couldn't... eh, it didn't matter. Though at Charles' question he couldn't help but frown.

"I don't remember anything after being pulled from the ocean, Charles." Which possibly meant that he didn't even remember Shaw.

It was a staggering revelation for Charles. Tossed back to the very beginning, before everything they had overcome, both separately and together. All they had been through. His reactions split between distressed concern and the flicker of anger that someone besides him had been in Erik's mind, had tampered with the other mutants' memories. He had to approach this very carefully. The wrong words, a step too far, and he could spiral Erik into confusion, anger, any number of unpredictable reactions.

"I see." His words were soft, hesitant, regret tinged within them. "We are currently in Westchester. In New York. There is much I will need to tell you, my friend." He sighs, resting his arms on the chair arm, still crouching beside it with uncertainty of where to go from this.

"But there is time enough for that. How is your head, Erik?"

There's a part of him that can feel Charles' anger and he's not even sure how in the world he's doing that. It doesn't make any sense. Though the telepath's question about his head is ignored. Ignored because his eyes are suddenly on the numbers tattooed along his arm.

"...How?" Why would anyone do that?
