I got the Columbia internship! I am so excited! It is not permenant, but it is for six months and pays really well ($12.34 an hour!). It will pad my resume, let me make contacts witht he MDC, and basically help me get my foot in the door. I will be working in Columbia MIssouri with the MDC and the University of Missouri doing research on Niangua ( Read more... )

Isn't it? There is so much to do now to get ready for our move. I keep thinking "I'm gonna get paid to play outside all summer long!" God really does answers prayers.

Congrats on the job! Are you going to have to do much traveling since the Niangua darter is found in South Central MO?

That will be awesome if you get to go caving. Leonard has taken several caving classes and gone on many caving trips. He absolutely loves it! Just don't hit your head. :)

Thank you! I was really worried that I wouldn't get it because I know the internships are much more competitive, especially since they pay so much better and last longer than the regular jobs. God is amazing! I don't think there is going to be as much traveling, although there will be a little. Which is just as well because Chris and I can finally have some time together. I am excited about the caving too. I don't think we are going to do much of it, or go too far in the cave, but I'm really looking forward to it. And I think Columbia will be a good place to live.

Just a bit of advice - I'd start looking for a place ASAP because most places are probably already leasing for next year. You shouldn't have any problems finding a place, except for wanting a 6-month lease instead of a year. You might want to check into Jeff City too. It's only half an hour away and might be a little more affordable.

We kind of thought the same thing so we are going up this coming wednesday to look at several places. I'm so excited! we are finally getting out of Grandpa's!

Thanks! Yes yes, everyone told me that I was going to do just fine, but after being rejected over sixty times from over sixty jobs, I didn't really want to get my hopes up. Now Chris and I are going to be busy apartment searching, u-haul reserving, etc. I'm a little nervous calling the other Chillocothe job and telling them that I'm not going to accept, but then, who can really blame me? This Columbia job is the much better deal!
