Learning about self

I work with  an Alzheimer patient 3 times a week (I'm too lazy to go and look back to see whether or not I've mentioned this before). Wow. Big questions. I didn't know that you and Kofi weren't legally married. I'm kinda of shocked by his reaction to your request to be. Don't have any answers. Just hugs. Don't know for sure if we'll be at Beltane, but I hope so, so I can hug you in person.

I wasn't really all that shocked. Neither he nor I wanted to get married, before this all came about. The decission to call each other husband and wife was made after I got sick and tired having to remember who knew us as what. Amongst the Africans they called me wife and he went along with it. When there was a man to introduce me to, he called me wife. When there was a cute woman he called me his girl-friend. Funny and exasperating! I was sick of trying to remember. So one day I said: "What are we going to call ourselves? One or another - you chose. He chose and we've been calling each other husband and wife ever since."
I don't know about his decission. I have told him, though, that he can't expect from me to put my life on the line if he's not willing. I haven't acted on that statement, so who knows where it will go from here.
