It's finally back from repair, and not at all to my surprise, they reset the whole hard drive. I still don't know why, considering it was entirely a case repair and shouldn't have needed any dicking around with the hard drive in the first place. Probably did it to spite me, considering I didn't pay anything for the repair (it was a hardware defect

yes same thing happened to me! I sent in my laptop to HP to get my screen fixed and my whole hard drive; gone =( Why do they even bother to ask you if you want it done or not!(at least in my case) and me, I didnt have anything backed up since they said they wouldn't touch the hard drive
