Waffle House, here I come

Jul 30, 2009 13:30

Well here's some news I can post about: I'm moving to Atlanta (from Boston) in a few weeks. I guess about the middle of September. I bought another house and will be selling the one I have now. Got a good deal, it's next door to my sister, and I will now have an automatic built-in pet sitter. (She will too, from me.) Also my sister has a dog ( Read more... )

omg, congrats!! I guess I shouldn't ask if you're coming to DCM this year, eh?

Thank you! Nope, no DCM this year. Too much going on. Are you going? Taking pictures again, I hope?

Definitely going, and sounds like I'll be doing pics again. They're kinda flakey, but I did get the standard volunteer email and responded to it. Hope that's good enough. =)

Prolly going to buy myself a new wide lens before I go down, but if I do invest, I'll pretty much be confining myself to my Sony gear forever. A switch to Nikon is tempting, though.

Ohhh, it's so hard to change! But it's true, the more you buy the harder it gets, so sometimes it's better to do it sooner than later. Unless you can rent a WA for a decent price? And then switch later, if you still want to.

Thank you! Yes I was really glad; they wanted way too much money and then they must have done some research and found my sister wasn't lying to them when she told them they'd never get an appraisal for even close to what they thought they could get. (Which means, nobody could ever get a mortgage for it.) I'm so happy and I'm ecstatic to be leaving my job.

Wow cool! I occasionally drive up for some event. Will be there the day of the Chicago shows to see Alton Brown.

That's ok since it looks like we'll see each other in LA! :-D

You'll have to let me know when you are up! And I will def see you in LA. Also, when you have a sec can you PM or email me a mailing address that you can be reached at? I have a little something I want to send you. :-)

Also I have to watch your videos; just haven't had time yet. Looking forward to seeing them.

is there a group house rental with folks or anything?

I can couch surf with local peeps to a point, but... possibly not with folks my hosts haven't met in tow.

I don't know specifically of any group houses but I vaguely recall someone posting about renting a house or condo and looking for people to share. We did Priceline and got the Bonaventure for $62/night. I think for NYC I'm going to take the bus late on Sat. night and then just go camp out, and hopefully take a bus back. I have to work the next day (Monday) so at least I'd be able to sleep if I don't have to drive.

LOL I remember you! Are you seeing any of the upcoming Pogues shows? I can't do it this time; at least I saw them six (I think) times last tour. Ha, I have never seen them (not even 20 years ago) 27 times in a year but now, especially, I don't think I would as even though I LOVE them so much, they do the same exact set list every show. So it's not something I'd want to see several dozen times in a row ( ... )

Thank you! Ha, yes, that's probably the best part! Well in the Top 5 Best Parts. I really, really hate shoveling. Snow is only fun when you're a kid and get to stay home from school. Adults who still have to go to work, and trudge through it, and clean it up, have no fun with snow.

That was your internship at the paper I read about, right? Congrats on that! I didn't read the article yet but I will.
