Part two

Time for part three, in which we find out Alice is a member of the Vanguard, Decus beats the everliving shit out of some guy and the duo heads to Asgard where they run into a familiar boy with a bright red shirt.

Part Three

So. Did we really think Alice and Decus could win a battle against 4000 year old badass? Nah. It lasted about five seconds. Decus is conscious long enough to catch a glimpse of Yuan taking a mysterious shiny object. Then he passes out and is awakened by Alice.

Whoah, Yuan showing compassion towards two teenagers? Maybe he feels bad about Palmacosta after all!

So they discover that Yuan has taken something called Lumen's Core. Oh dear. Apparently it's very important to Alice and Tenebrae, which is why they decide to chase after him. But first, Decus would like to stress the fact that he dashed in to save Alice single-handedly, like a real knight in shining armor.

Alice disagrees. She says it's only because of Ratatosk that he was so powerful.

Oh Decus. Try harder next time.

So they leave the room through the back after picking up a tacky mask that Yuan left behind. Turns out that they were below the Tower of Mana!

Ironically, guess what destroyed the Tower of Mana? Giant. Fearsome. Tree. The two decide to head back to Luin to regroup and talk to the mayor about Lloyd.

But first Tenebrae explains a bit about the world regeneration and why Alice is going around gathering Centurion's Cores. Apparently they want to awaken Ratatosk and his Centurions to stop the insane environmental changes that are going on. ... Sure, sounds cool. To Luin!

Where they run into... Hawk! A member of the Vanguard. Turns out, Alice was also a member of the Vanguard, but she took Ratatosk's Core and left. Hawk would like her to return the Vanguard, but Alice declines his offer by kicking his ass.

And then they flee.

Hurray, that's a great title to have!

As they flee the city, they run into Magnar, the commandant of the Martel/Papal Knights. Magnar also wants Ratatosk's Core. If they don't hand it over, Luin's gonna get burnt to the ground just like Palmacosta. Oh my.

Decus wonders what he means by that. Then it's explained that the reason Palmacosta was attacked was because the Vanguard were plotting a rebellion against the Church of Martel.

Decus does not approve.

Alice and Decus flee, but Magnar threatens to destroy the city in the name of the Church of Martel and Lloyd the Great if they don't surrender. And so...

Alice does indeed surrender herself. Even if it means dying, because removing the core from her head will result in her death.

Magnar decides to just destroy Luin anyway, just for the heck of it. Nice to know those Papal Knights are still as corrupt as before.

Decus and Tenebrae to the rescue!

Except that he fails epicly and falls down. Alice and Magnar just stare for a moment. Then he pushes himself back to his feet...

And suddenly he's surrounded by a dark aura. Also, his voice is like five octaves deeper.

Then he mercilessly kicks Papal Knight ass to save Alice.

You're next, Magnar!

Decus seems to enjoy punching this man in the face. Alice isn't exactly stopping him, either.

But eventually they just let him go with a warning and a very bruised face. They head over to the mayor's house, but it seems the people of Luin are a little afraid of Decus after what he did to Magnar.

Ingrateful jerks.

The mayor basically kicks Decus out of the village, telling him to go look for Lloyd the Great. Because Lloyd the Great would never condone such pillaging, even if he is great buddies with the Church of Martel. ... And that weirdo who burnt down Palmacosta.

And so Alice is forced to team up with him. Because Decus is now her Knight of Ratatosk and they're all looking for Lloyd and that blue-haired weirdo anyway.

---------

Chapter two, Troubled Heart. ... Okay. Interesting title.

To Asgard! Now also known as the Windy City. Because it is, indeed, incredibly windy. Decus complains that's messing up his hair.

Alice is unimpressed.

A bit further into the city, Decus bumps into a rather familiar boy. Hm... Who is this guy again? I'm sure I've seen him somewhere before....

Apparently this kid can see Tenebrae. He then continues to ramble to the two about how Asgard reminds him of his friends.

Riiiight. What a weirdo. So Alice and Decus continue onward to the mayor's house, where a mysterious gust of wind attacks.

And lifts Alice right off her feet. Good thing Decus was fast enough to grab her and pull her back down.

Let's not have a repeat of that. Decus will need to hold her hand until they've found shelter.

Oooh, holding hands like this is totally first base! Score!

Will they find out more about Lloyd and the fabulous blue-haired weirdo? Will they find another Centurion's Core? And when will they realize that kid with the red shirt was actually Lloyd the Great?

Stay tuned!
