Part eight

In which Richter gets fried, Yuan kidnaps Seles Wilder, Zelos wants to eat Tenebrae and we find out the truth behind the Blood Purge in Palmacosta!

Part Nine

So after ditching Regal to find out more about Glacies' core, the gang goes to get Tenebrae back!

As they finally reach Tenebrae's altar, they run into none other than... Richter! Wow, it's not Yuan, for once.

Richter intends to destroy Tenebrae's core, to keep him from coming back to life. The gang fully intends to stop him!

Which may be a bit of a mistake. Richter storms towards Sheena,

Then attempts to slice Alice in half, while holding Decus off with his other sword. Wow, that's badass.

So Decus goes into Ratatosk Mode...

And launches some sort of attack that completely fries Richter.

Ooooo.... Aaaah...~

But Richter is still standing, and seems to have recognized that attack from somewhere. He tells Decus to stop being a Knight of Ratatosk.

And looks very sad while doing so.

Sheena attempts to get Decus to stop attacking, or he'll destroy the entire temple, but Decus shoves her out of the way.

And so, another Ain Soph Aur is launched, but this time, Richter is prepared. He uses some technique called Eternal Recurrence to bounce it right back at Decus.

And Alice, in a fit of madness, throws herself in front of Decus to take the shot.

Then the entire platform collapses, for some reason, and they fall down a floor. That's where Sheena meets up with them.

Hatch, Tenebrae! Haaatch!

Turns out, Richter survived too. We'll likely run into him again sooner or later.

At the temple's exit, they run into Regal, who informs them that Seles Wilder has Glacies' core. Looks like Tokunaga's presence at the item shop was relevant after all. So they head to Zelos' mansion to meet with Seles, only to hear a disturbance upstairs.

A fabulous blue-haired man came in through the second floor window and kidnapped Seles! Oh dear.

While searching for Seles, Decus runs into Zelos Wilder himself and explains what happened.

Guess who conveniently comes running by? Yuan, you cad, put down that helpless teenage girl!

They return to Zelos' mansion, where Sebastian explains the situation. But Zelos is rather doubtful whether that person was really Yuan. He's not sure if Yuan would really wear an outfit like that. What's also disturbing is the lack of a ransom note.

So they go to meet with the King of Tethe'alla. The kidnapping of Seles must be trap set for someone else! Apparently, Sheena's Mizuho scouts saw a Rheaird heading towards the Cape Fortress, but... Who was on this Rheaird?!

Inside the Cape Fortress, Sheena once again falls down a hole. Regal leaves the party to go find her, leaving Alice and Decus with Zelos.

Unsure if this was a good idea.

Further into the dungeon, badassery is in progress! Yuan is fighting... Lloyd the Great! Lloyd shouts that other guy is not really Yuan but an imposter. Yuan retorts that it takes one to know one, implying that Lloyd is in fact an imposter.

Zelos would take Lloyd's word over Yuan's and attacks him, sending him flying. I doubt he even cared whether he was really an imposter or not- he just wanted revenge for the kidnapping.

Surprise! Yuan was Emil all along! ... Or, well. In some of the scenes, anyway.

Marta also appears, carrying Seles along. Wow, Marta, you're so mean.

Time for a trade! All of the cores, including Ratatosk's core, in exchange for Seles! Emil adds that they don't really need the other cores, but they'd look nice in Commander Brute's scrapbook.

But Sheena appears to save Seles and pwn Marta severely!

Emil then gets hit by a chakram, launched by none other than...

Coleeetteeee! ... Wait, when did she get here? ... Oh, I get it. She must've arrived together with Lloyd! She did go off to search for him, after all. Most of the party escapes together with Seles.

But Marta isn't about to let them run off and chases after them!

Alice and Decus attempt to follow, but Emil blocks their path, so they kick his ass.

And at last, the truth comes out! Emil used his special disguiser powers to impersonate Yuan, then attacked Palmacosta while a Vanguard meeting was going on. It was the same for Luin. Flanoir was just attacked because it happened to be there. ... So the Vanguard destroyed a cities in the name of their opponent to stop people from supporting the Vanguard?

... Even putting it like that, it doesn't make much sense. Whose retarded plan was this? And don't you think the real Church of Martel would step forward to say they had absolutely nothing to do with these attacks?

Anyway, Emil flees before we get to kill him.

In the next room, Marta has been cornered by the rest of the party.

The topic of the Sylvarant Dynasty is once again brought up. Marta's pops, Commander Brute, intends to revive the Dynasty and crown himself king of Sylvarant. Apparently he's a descendant of the Dynasty.

... Even Marta seems to think this idea is ridiculous.

Oh, is that so? Interesting. Hm... And the Dynasty was destroyed 800 years ago... Weren't the Renegades also started 800 years ago? I smell a connection!

Are you sure about that, Marta? Seems to me like Brute will just kill Alice anyway.

Smart girl, Alice. I mean, aside from the fact that removing the core from your forehead will kill you.

Marta retreats and Emil follows happily. He sure is dedicated to his fangirl.

The gang decides to leave the Cape Fortress and regroup in Meltokio. ... Hold on, Yuan? Where did you come from? And where did Lloyd go?

Will Yuan finally explain why he was also hunting for Centurion cores? Which core is next? Who is Aster? And where did Lloyd disappear to?

Stay tuned!
