Thank you for such a lovely comment. That you used the word "humanity" means a lot to me because that was something I was consciously determined to maintain for all the characters. And I'm glad Parsi worked for you too since OCs can be tricky :) He was originally just a Plot Fairy (and still kind of is) but his role definitely grew and grew as I revised the story.
Awww thank you. Those scenes were some of the more fun ones to write. I'm not always certain of my Kirk voice but I liked exploring him in this context.

I'm kind of leery about writing OCs (don't want them to be completely lifeless, but don't want them to potentially overshadow the main characters) so I'm glad these were OK. Parsi grew on me more than I expected.
Because in the end this was about closure that Chekov had never gotten. He was angry at Sulu for dying, which isn't unusual IRL, and he was angry at Kirk for getting him killed, which was understandable, but mostly he had never gotten to say a proper good-bye, which is something that can never be made right, or only after a long period of coming to terms with tragedy.
