So we're in Tucumcari, NM. It is cold, windy, and rainy. Luckily that got going as we were stopping for the day. Rain in the desert smells amazing, though. Gabe has been great, especially considering this has been a long day, almost 700 miles. We considered stopping in Amarillo, but that was at 6 pm, and pushing on for two hours made sense, ( Read more... )

When we drove through Tucumcari, we had to stop at Blake's Lotaburger for lunch :-)

Are you in a car or a truck? We did Salt Lake City to Sunnyvale in a U-Haul truck in a single day a couple of years ago, which was probably at least 400 miles too far, with hindsight.

Both. We are driving our car, and our friend is towing our trailer with her husband's truck. Funnily enough, it not only barely notices the couple thousand pound trailer, it totally left us in the dust on hills where we had to change gears and floor the pedal :) so we made good time.
