The Subliminal Reassurances of Procedural Dramas

Dec 05, 2005 11:40

This was posted on a Without a Trace mailing list I am a part of. The poster said that it was originally posted on a Numb3rs list and he/she got permission to post it over on the WaT list. I don't have such permission, but it's quite funny and I felt I had to share.

I've seen them all minus Criminal Minds and actively follow 6 of them aso i'm not as bad as you. I agree with you about NCIS. Poor show, it's always getting picked on.

OMG, I love the icon! So funny.

Anyway... I'm glad I'm not the only one that watches many shows; it makes me feel better. Regarding NCIS, for being a top 10 (and often top 5) show, it really doesn't get any respect. I know it's not "cool" like the CSI's, but still...

When I watched the icon you're using here I thought: "Who is this goodlooking guy?" Then I recognised Tony!! If only he wasn't depicted as such shallow man in NCIS!

For me at least, shallow is a nice change of pace from the all-angst-all-the-time that I get elsewhere. (And he is quite attractive, which gives him a little bit more leeway in my book. *grin*)

I'm in tears from too much laughing!! Oh God, how true!! I can comment the ones I know for some reason (Cold case, Crossing Jordan, CSI, Criminal Intent, SVU, NCIS and WaT).

I especially loved the 'brilliant but broken man' everywhere and the NCIS 'worry' (you know what I think about it).

Oh, and where are the 'odd but beautiful people ' in CSI??

And what is this WaT mailing list, something I should know about?

Isn't it funny? That's why I had to repost it. I also loved the "brilliant but broken man" and I did laugh (a lot) at the NCIS comment, even if I do like the show.

Regarding mailing lists, I belong to a few for WaT...
ericcloseclubhouse, which isn't all that active
MandSFic, which gets no action. (In fact, I sort of forgot I belonged to it!)
The_Danny_Taylor_Playroom, not much action at all here either.
WAT-AllFic, there have been a couple of fics posted here recently.
WAT_Martin_GenFanFic, which pretty much only has fics that were also posted at the All Fics group.
Without-A-Trace, which is the site that I got this from. It is a really active and interesting list.

Thanks for the links. I joined the WaT group. I was already part of the Danny Taylor group, but I had stopped checking it a long time ago.

(LJ let me know about your replies only now)

I like the WaT main list. I just joined a little bit ago, but I'm finding it interesting. As far as LJ goes, it's just now giving me notifications from a week or two ago! *sigh*

Oh, and I'm still not here, really... *grin*

*lol* Great article, especially the part about the leads being all broken men *roll eyes* and for WaT "some of whom are having sex with each other" bacause it goes so well with the broken men above.

I agree about NCIS it's no worse than some other listed above, but that line was too funny.
From the list, I watch House, Cold Case and I'm really interested in Bones (how is it?).

*and I think we belong to the same wat list*

It is a great article, and I did laugh at the NCIS line, even as I was saying that it wasn't fair.

I've actually only seen two Bones episodes so far because it airs opposite Gilmore Girls and NCIS. At some point my mom and I are supposed to exchange NCIS tapes for Bones tapes so she can see NCIS and I can see Bones. I really liked the books on which the show is based, and the two episodes I saw were good enough.

You're part of the list too? There is some interesting stuff on there. I really liked the story behind the files on the pedophilia case.

Yes, I'm part of this list and we have in common another list among the ones you listed for Ross (the WaT_Martin_gen_fanfic where i foudn the story by Jin I reccomended you earlier). And, I agre, they hve interesting discussions, sometime they make me laugh, for me it's like a safe heaven where people are always frank.

I liked it, too. And did you saw the pic of the propmaster at Martin's desk? I don't know from how much time you are part of the list, but he did it because one of the member didn't believe he was the WaT propmaster for real *g*
