i had a dream last night after i read this, and i saw you in it, and you were with other people going up the stairs, you said you'd see me later, but it made me so damn happy.

we were all wearing prom dresses.

Ah... Chinese New Year. Some how I've ended up living with a Chinese family here in Switzerland (it's one thing to live with em in China, another thing to live with in Switzerland I've discovered) so I got to do some of the routine, albeit a little toned down.

I do remember the fireworks in China though.... and you're not exaggerating it by comparing it to WWII....I couldn't believe it. It was bloody mad but deep down I loved the complete anarchy of it all. They do quite a good job for the new year in reminding you that you really are alive by forcing you fear for your life from the many arbitrarily (even that word is too kind in describing it) aimed rockets going off all around you. Needless to say...I loved it.

And yes, I love how the Chinese are damn amazed if you know just Ni hao. Here with the Swiss... they love crushing your soul for forgetting it's die and not das... you can see it in their eyes. "Haha stupid American." I use it to my advantage though. I was reading a nice little book on culture the other day describing ( ... )

If you're talking about me, you must remember that the Native American tragedy is the main way I described the Tibetan's oppression to people. I do try to examine my own society, and I for one don't like seeing history repeat itself. America has a lot of problems, yes, but China is not a free country. Don't pretend like it is when there are Christians and Tibetans tortured in prisons. I know the middle eastern profiling is bad, I know racism is still alive and well, I know we put Japanese in concentration camps, I know we censor pagan materials from our schools, but please don't pretend like we can just ignore the bad things. Maybe you can, but I don't want to ( ... )
