Who: Karkat Vantas and Terezi Pyrope When: The day after the hallucination events ends, after sunset Where: Troll territory Rating: PG? Summary: Terezi tries to clear the air between them.
It would be a lie to say that Terezi wasn't constantly on the back of his mind for various reasons. The hallucinations had sort of sent him overboard, all things considered. He had to make sure Gamzee wasn't going crazy, he was feeling rather inadequate about himself, and he still felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.
He was strong, but even the strongest material has its breaking point, and Karkat had his breaking point as well. And now his moirail had parted from him somewhat and he was basically a giant nervous wreck. It wasn't the most ideal time to have a heart to heart, but it looked like they weren't getting back and things weren't going to ever be the same. There probably wouldn't be an ideal time to have a heart to heart at this point
( ... )
Terezi was surprised that he approached her, honestly; she hadn't thought that he would want to see her. She'd thought that, after she'd been convinced she was dead, and laid all the awkward burdens of her guilt at his feet in what she'd meant to be a heartfelt, meaningful confession...well, she'd thought she'd have to coax him into speaking to her.
Did he actually remember anything she said? He probably did. That was going to make this so difficult.
She stood still and let him approach, her blind face turning in his direction, sniffing curiously at him.
Karkat remembered, but it was just bits and pieces. It was starting to come back to him, but back then, he'd had a head injury. He wasn't exactly his entire self when they had that conversation. It was much better to try and clear it up now than to let it hang and never talk to her again. He didn't know if he could take never talking to her again.
"Terezi. I lost Gamzee. Have you seen him?"
It wasn't necessarily what he wanted to talk about, but the last thing he wanted to do was dive right into the heavy shit.
That wasn't what she wanted to talk about either, at least not yet. Something odd was going on with him, definitely, but so far she wasn't too worried yet. She tried not to look disappointed that Karkat hadn't actually come over to talk to her about something that wasn't their spaced-out companion.
Well. Maybe not so spaced-out anymore.
"No, I haven't. You don't know where his pile is?"
