Thank you so much, that is such a nice comment.

I think Arthur realises what has happened and comes down and rescues him, so in my head he doesn't die there. *G*

Thank you very much. I know someone also picked this prompt to write fic for. They might have gone in a different direction with it, but I'm really looking forward to reading it as I love the idea.

This actually gave me chills. The expression on Merlin's face is totally heartbreaking and the way you've drawn that emotion it's totally stunning.

Just WOW.

Oh that is beautiful, his face is so well done. I am all amaze. I live that there is a candle too, I suspect that's so Uther could see what he was doing but also it just adds to the scariness - the flame burning up precious oxygen, and the light spluttering out at the end would be somehow worse than the light disappearing brick by brick (idek). Beautiful.

Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it.

You had exactly the same thoughts as me about the candle. I think I love you. *G*

Any light Uther needs to work will be outside the alcove, out where he is. (In reality I should have shown the bricks lit up from the outside, where Uther is standing, by a torch or something, but I felt that would spoil the claustrophobic feel.) So I felt that uther put the candle there in a sadistic voyeuristic way, so that he could view Merlin's expressions clearly right up until he puts the last brick into place.

Also, as you say, I imagine Merlin all alone in the space at the end, watching the candle and starting to see it sputter, and desperate for it not to go out...and then it does...and there's darkness... The idea puts the shivers up me, so I hoped it might someone else. *G*

Thanks so much for your great comment.

Delayed response is delayed! And no, your lighting is perfect, it so fits that Uther would b all sadistic and need to see Merlin's face while he entombs him alive (my hatred for Uther knows no bounds, especially after 5.03).

Also imagine the panic when a stray breeze somehow makes it down to where Merlin is, perhaps as Uther leaves and closes a door behind him - Merlin would try to mentally bargain with the gods as the flame flickers and nearly dies, knowing that as long as the flame exists there is hope.

And there is, until the flame dies a natural death some time later.

Love that little scene you just wrote there.

Poor Merlin, you'd never guess we love the guy. *LOL*
